Fľaša 12-ročného Abuela je rovnaká ako u 7-ročného, ten mi pred časom veľmi chutil. Farba je krásna, takmer gaštanová, vôňa je dosť intenzívna, komplexná, aj keď ťažšie definovateľná. Krátko po otvorení cítiť chémiu/lepidlo (treba nechať chvíľu "vyvetrať") a rôzne drevené tóny. Chuť je výrazne nasládla a jemná, krásne sa rozpína v dutinách. Jednoznačne dominuje drevo a koža (gaštany?), snáď trochu karamelu a určité ťažké ovocné tóny, ktoré radšej nebudem spresňovať, ani po čase ich nedokážem bližšie identifikovať. Každopádne sú veľmi svojské, výsledok je ale akceptovateľný, i keď každým ďalším dúškom stále viac tŕpne jazyk. Subjektívne hodnotím cca na rovnakej úrovni ako pri mladšom súrodencovi, rating by určite zdvihlo menej pridaného cukru. Fľašu som kúpil v 20% akcii miestneho obchodníka, ani štandardná cena však nie je žiadny killer. Odporúčam.

The aroma is super interesting, smells like old wood and jam. The taste however is surprisingly sweet with a lot of tropical fruit. Pretty light and syrup like with not much evolution. It is however still wonderful to sip on.

Very nice rum I enyoyed drinking it maybe it was the timing but it hit perfectly for me

First you smell oak, then when you taste it it's oak, vanilla and sweetnes. If there would be a tougher end with a little burn, my grade would be a solid 10. Pretty good!
I like this Rum, I am not an expert but like quality drinks. I found it sweet with a complex taste. Exactly what I like.

($57CAD) It’s dark and smells a bit spicy. Which didn’t seem to show up on the palate the first couple sips. There’s a lot to unpack in this rum.
The first thing I noticed tasting this one is it’s more tart than any of the other rums I’ve tried. Like cherries. It’s upfront and I like it. Right behind that is what I was smelling, some spice or tobacco maybe. That fades into a good amount of sweetness and then oak, resting nicely into a subtle but lingering warmth.
This rum makes me look forward to drinking it. It’s an interesting rum with some distinct flavours on top of the sweetness which is exactly what I like.

Je to môj prvý rum z rodiny Abuelo. Rozhodol som sa ho vyskúšat na základe dobrých recenzii. Dizajn fliaš sa mi veľmi nepači ale doležitejší je obsah. Rum krásne vonia po vanilke, trstinovom cukre, dube a dyme. Cuť je sladká tak akurát a kopíruje vôňu. Výborný chutný rum ale v tejto cene by som siahol asi po niečom výraznejšiom.

Cedar, leather, raisins, peppery tobacco...great aroma. Taste is sort of cedar/black licorice/charred molasses, a bit too sweet and just didn't seem balanced to me. Much smoother that the 7 year Abuelo, so there's that.
It is truly one of my favorites. I love its gentle taste - it is very universal for me, only reason for not being 10/10 - its bit too sweet. Slight bit.

This is a well made, smooth rum with a great initial impression. The aftertaste of coffee and maybe a hint of chocolate leaves me flat however.
It’s very drinkable and I’d pick this over many others. It has a dark, rich taste and I’d give a higher rating if the notes were more fruity or vanilla.
Edit* after four months experience, I am upgrading this rating. The flavors of this are very nice. Lots of brown sugar, and a little spice. At first, my lack of experience and bias toward vanilla made me rate it lower but now it goes from 7 to 8.
