A very tasty blend

46% ABV (at last!). A 6-year-old rum, containing rum up to 12 years old. Created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of St. Lucia's independence from the UK. Also a limited release of 1979 bottles (cute). A blend of pot and column distillate* (Single Blended Rum), from both molasses and juice. Aged primarily in bourbon barrels, with a small amount aged in brandy barrels.
I don’t how how long this has spent in oak, but there’s much more character here (than either the CR or AR lineup). Lots of solid, prickly oak influence with spice notes. Very refined-tasting. I'm not immediately in love with it, but it's rather complex and moreish. A very good pout.
