Bumbu Rum XO rum is distilled in Panama before spending 18 years in American white oak bourbon barrels, with a further short finish in Andalusian white oak sherry barrels.

I really enjoyed the original Bumbu for its character and its uniqueness (banana flavour). The Bumbu XO is very good and I would recommend it. However, it's not my first choice. For someone who thinks that the original is way too much on the banana side, this one might do the trick. It all depends on what you want to find in your rhum.
As for the way to drink it, I went for my two favourite ways: straight and on the rocks. As I often enjoy straight rhum, I prefered that one on ice. Anyways, it's a good sipping rhum and there's no need to mix it with anything but water or ice.

Once bought this as gift for a friend in my rum club. We toasted his day with a straight of this rum. Me and 2 other members bought a flask the following days. Bumbu just makes som good smooth a Nice karamel rums u Wont go wrong with it.

Hát ez érdekes. Első kortyra abszolút nem jön be, túl alkoholosnak, marósnak tűnik. Aztán ez elkezd átalakulni, sőt a pohár végére érve már majdnem ízlik annyira, hogy kell belőle mégegy... Ettől függetlenül nem lesz a kedvencem, sokkal többet vártam tőle.

Robe assez claire. Rhum doux sur la cerise, cannelle, bonbon poisson rouge et poivre. Assez léger, beau rhum, assez facile d’approche.

It was a surprise for me, but this XO version tasted a little bit worse than the ordinary one. Hm, fortunately I didn't buy the whole bottle, because in general I don't like Bumbu rum. Generally I like sweet rums, but this one tastes a little bit better than sweet water, nothing special for its price.
Decent rum. Very complex with a unique taste/flavor that lingers. Would buy it again but not as a first choice.

Once I get my family/friends to try regular Bumbu, I can then tell who are my rum drinking buddies if they like XO. Even my cheap brother-in-law up in MI now stocks it :-)
Not as sweet as the original and also a bit more layered in taste, still missing some roundness.

The oak flavor surprised me a little as I was suspecting more molasses for some reason. If it had a little less after burn it would have been even higher. No complaints when mixed. While I generally like to see what my rum looks like before I pour, I did like the black bottle and cross.
