Bumbu XO

Great zipper, good combo with a Monte Cristo cigar

Tasted at Laka Lono on 3/12/19. The aroma is more rum-like than regular Bumbu. This has a bit more alcohol to the nose. Flavor is mild- too mild. Not very sweet and generally a disappointment.

A decent rum, but has a little harshness and afterburner when drank straight.
Very nice mixer, but at the price point there are far better choices for less $$.

I love the bottle, I enjoyed banana flavours, but also I've learned that's no natural flavours :(

Very different from the Original one. It's good to share with cognac or whiskey lovers. Much more dry, less sweet, soaked in spices barrel up to 18 years holding. Great value for good price and very nice bottle.

A very easy to drink rum, hints of vanilla, medium sweetness

La couleur très brune m’a fait penser a un spicy mais son côté mielé lui apporte une douceur incroyable. A la fois très agréable et très complexe

Son goût légèrement vanillé avec la note de banane typique des Bambus incluant la richesse du vieillissement en barrique de chêne une belle rondeur en bouche .

Dark, strong on flavor. Very low alcohol burn. A good rum, neat or on the rocks. I could not see this being a mixer.

I really enjoyed the original Bumbu for its character and its uniqueness (banana flavour). The Bumbu XO is very good and I would recommend it. However, it's not my first choice. For someone who thinks that the original is way too much on the banana side, this one might do the trick. It all depends on what you want to find in your rhum.
As for the way to drink it, I went for my two favourite ways: straight and on the rocks. As I often enjoy straight rhum, I prefered that one on ice. Anyways, it's a good sipping rhum and there's no need to mix it with anything but water or ice.
