Rum tasting with my old buddy in Prague. Continued onwards with Kill Devil Cuba Sancti Spiritus 18y. Unique bottle and label design. Golden color. Pure Rhum Agricole method to your nose and palate. Super dry burn at the end. Sweet ending but you still get the burn.

This is what Cuban (multicolumn) Rum tastes like unless it is sweetened and adjusted with sherry etc. It is a golden delight, tasty even if a bit light, containing enough impurities (read: Flavours) to be truly enjoyable and honest. Dry - naturally, claro que si. Beat the living #¤"&& out of Bacardis and Havana Clubs. Amazing in comparison.

Sancti Spiritus, what could be better to kill devils.
I was curious to taste a real cuban rum, because Cuban rums don't have good reputation in rum scene.
The first thing I get in the nose is a sour note with pepper. Like pickeled pickles with pepper, followed by wood and vanilla.
The taste starts watery, it was diluted too much IMHO. First aromas are from Panama, paper followed by vanilla and citrus. In the middle you get peppery note and more intensive with flavors like salted prune, banana and honey.
This rum is like a mix of Panama (peppery) with Trinidad (medical note) rum. It's another kind of rum, more sour than sweet. If you like Panama rums, maybe you would enjoy it. Sour note with honey is unusual for me but the aftertaste is damn tasty.
Because it's unusual I would rate 84. It's still a great surprise and a unique rum.
Nose: pickled pickles, pepper, citrus, white oak and vanilla, honey, some plants/herbs
Taste: watery start, paper (like Panama rum), citrus, honey, vanilla, salt
Middle: pepper, bitter note, vanilla, salted prune, honey, grains
Finish: spice, medicine, grains, bitter note, salted prune, banana, honey (that's tasty)
Aftertaste: white pepper, honey, bitterness, grains, salted prune, anise, peppermint
Sweetness: 1.5/5
Fruit: 1.5/5
Mildness: 3/5
Spice: 3/5
Complexity: 4/5
Value (66€): 3.5/5
