Rum tasting with my buddy in Tampere continued with Navy Island Select Cask 10y. Decent bottle and label design. Light golden color. Strong Jamaican funk mixed with plenty of glue and rubber to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Surprisingly mild burn at the end.
The esters in this bottle fill the room and make it fragrant as only a Hampden can. Butterscotch, butter rum. Fruity flavor. It's both obvious that it's a Hampden, yet... I did a side-by-side with seven representative Hampdens, and this one is something special.
I desperately want to make simple cocktails for my friends with this. But given how scarce it is, that just isn't going to happen. Get it while you can.
