Very different than most rums. Lighter and drier. You can taste the wood it was aged with. Also flavors of grass and nutmeg before turning quite spicy and actually just a bit too harsh, for me anyway. Still a solid sipping rum.

I have had better Agricole rhum but I have also had worse. The VSOP has a burn factor to it from the strong pepper notes as well as form the intense alcohol taste. You definitely get the earthy, grassy taste with some oakiness and some smoke notes as well.
This is an ok rhum to drink straight. The price, however, is too high for a rhum like this.

Different flavour to anything else ... Damp flavour that's on its own ...

I like Rhum JM and this one is a great sipper, and also for a good punch vieux. Lots of flavor and smooth.

A very good aged agricole style rum. It's my favorite aged agricole so far to sip.

Enjoyed on March 30, 2024 at our home Tiki Bar - King Kahuna Lounge

Nose: More alcohol forward and vegetation on the nose compared to other aged JM

Taste/Palate: Tropical notes with ripe banana playing a role. Wood and spice l.

Finish: Balanced with some pepper finish.

Excellent rhum vieux agricole. I should start by saying I'm a big fan of Rhum JM but that aside, I don't feel like the average 6.8 rating does this justice at all. It has a lot of oak, and maybe that's what turns some off, but it is peppery, buttery, smooth, dry, and has a great finish. I do prefer unaged agricoles for their grassiness, and the notes come back in the long finish of this vsop. Delightful. Complexity of an armagnac, and an intoxicating nose. I recommend drinking this one slowly, it changes beautifully in the glass as you go.

Agricole... Very different color, feel and taste then most other rums. Pale, some solid burn, a bit harsh, heavy notes of oak with smoke/char, almost peppery. The finish was brief. Overall the taste was thin and almost astringent to me.
