Received as a gift, had seen you it but never tried. As a sugary rum fan this did not suit me. Smelled ok but the taste was some sort of bourbon variation. I like bourbon but could not put this down. Regifted to my 20 year old son, I’m sure he’ll throw up on it

Tasted at Laka Lono on 7/11/21. Pours reddish gold in color. Less aroma of traditional agricole and more like bananas. Flavor is a bit of a disappointment as well. Metallic caramel flavor. Perhaps the first rum of Martinique that I do not like?

Gorgeous label, appealing amber color. Burns a bit more than a rhum that sits longer, but not unbearably so. Robust grassy notes, with a bit of the wood and a floral finish. Not quite as rich as a “proper” vieux but less brash than a blanc. Suitable on it’s own (if you’re a Agricole fan) and shows it’s most desirable traits admirably when mixed. Ti’ punch, 1941 Mai Tai, etc

While I can appreciate some of the things age on this rum and some of the terroir, this rum just tasted like straight ethanol to me. As a part of a mixed drink with a lighter rum, this rum shines. I wouldn't have this on it's own.

Very simple rum. But I was surprised - easy to drink despite the strength. Perfect for coctails. Buy only while sale. Overpriced for quality.

I'm not a big fan of agricole rums, nor of high ABV rums, but I gave it a possibility, and it was good! Nice simple bottle, warm gold color. Sure it's only one year old?!

Nose: as always with agricole rums, the alcohol punch you in the face without any warning, and this is enough for most people for say "ok it's not for me", but a puff or two in the glass is enough to blow away some of the vapors, and then a new world opens: incredibly fruity, loads of pineapple, exotic fruit, hints of sugar cane and vanilla, some spices in the very background. It's ideal during hot summer nights, when other creamy, spiced and buttery rums may result too much.

Taste: as you expected from a 50 ABV rum, the taste it's very powerful and warms your mouth like someone starts a fire into it. But immediatly after that, it comes the fruit freshness you've smelled before, with delicate woods notes (again, sure that it's aged only one year?!) and some smokey hints. Obviously, it ends very quickly as it's a young rum, but it invites you ti take another sip.

Note: if you're not in the side of agricole rums, it may be a perfect starting point. Surely I'll try the older Brothers, but do me a favour: don't waste it for mixing. Ok, it's a not-for-everyone sipping rum, but it's for sipping!

This 1 year sugar cane rum was the only Agricole rum (Rhum) in my area. I picked it up fast as I have been doing some reading up on Agricole rums. I love the idea, and at a higher ABV 50%, I got my surprise.

Peeking around the plantation label is a nice golden rum wanting to get out. It’s actually a nice sight to behold. Upon the pour, the aroma is different than a molasses based rum (think Pussers here), a nice smell. Sugar cane does come through and a slight oakiness. I don’t get the grassiness others find, but I’m new at trying to detect it. You do get the awakening this is a higher alcohol rum.

The taste is actually good for a 1 year rum, ringing true that Agricoles are better younger. I immediately got the alcohol pucker, and oak, and a sense this is a purer rum. The peppery alcohol stayed with me a bit, but interestingly, a sweetness followed. The alcohol left a burn for longer than I thought it would. I’d like to try the 3 year old version for comparison.

After a couple of pours, I was ready to mix it with something sweet (Coca Cola) for me. It definitely goes well with Cola, but someone suggested Ginger Ale and that sounds good. It is better mixed, as a sipper? I’m not ready for it.

I’d buy this again ($33 USD) for me, but I’d like to try the 3 year old next to find if it’s mellower, and perhaps another Agricole.

A strong smell of honey, sweet, light fruity. The taste is also light sweet at first, honey, only light alcoholic. The finish is more dry and woody.

This for some reason is both harsher and less nuanced than the Blanc. The vegetal notes are muted and the oak really doesn't add much to this one.

Slight grassiness with a touch of oak. Best of both flavor worlds. Aged 1 year. Any longer and I feel that you lose too much of the nice grassy character of an agricole.
