This has become my go to for the agricole rum in my mai tai where it works really well. (Combining with Smith and Cross, and Appleton.) Not as grassy as some other agricoles I have tried.. Strong burn. Hard to drink neat.
This is a good agricol, i use it for mixing and like its Got a rough in taste so it dont get un notis in the drink.
Rhum agricole that’s very heavy on grass, citrus, herbs, and some faint residual sweetness. Excellent and aggressive agricole without some of the usual petrol/bad alcohol flavor
Whereas Neisson blanc 50° shines exceptionally well in ti’punch and is almost overkill for cocktails, Rhum J.M blanc 50° is the jack of all trades. Its value as a go-to for builds calling for the style and never overpowering anything (But, also never fading out… ) - not to mention great t’punches - make this a bottle bought in duplicate for the shear volume it stands up to on a regular basis in my home bar.
Highly recommend stocking this.
Tasted at Laka Lono 1/26/22 in the form of daiquiri, aka JuanDax.
Notes are concise and say: SO MUCH Agricole. This is Todd's wheelhouse.
This means I truly appreciate this rum, and would lift it as an example of the style, even if it would not be my first choice as a sipper.
Edit: 10/28/23 at Recival House Des Moines
Appearance: clear
Aroma: sourdough bread
Flavor: earthy, doughy, is that cinnamon no it is not but this is complex
Bottle steady and stylish label. Strong and pleasant aroma of yeast, cane juice, currants. The taste is perfect for unaged rum with a strength of 50% sweet, bitter and pleasantly sharp. It is impossible to drink for a long time, but the first impression of aroma and taste, the remaining clarity of mind due to the lack of sugar and wood additives is simply amazing. Plus savings on high alcohol content.
Le rhum JM fait partie des bons rhums pour boire en ti'punch et en planteur.
Awesome nose. Light funk, underripe banana, grassy, lightly herbal.
Sweet at first then quite dry across the tongue, finish has all the vegetal and herby sweet notes.
Overall a very nice unique agricole. Would be awesome in a ti punch or rum old fashioned. You could sip it if you like but I really frel it would shine an a very simple 2 or three ingredient cocktail.
Avec ce blanc, en dégustation sec ou en ti punch, c'est toujours un délice.
It’s very spicy and quite grassy.
"Overall its quite sweet but displays a more savoury vegetal note."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

It's my number 2 in agricole white rums. From Martinique, like the NEISSON, it's perfect for Ti-Punch!
