Tasty, but not quite great

I just had a sampel of this rum, so this is only my first impression.
Nose: very much glue and some vanilla.
Palate: more vanilla and caramel and a little bit less glue. I can also taste some pepper.
Finish: pretty long aftertaste with taste of nuts.
All in all its a pretty good rum. Nothing wrong with it.

Chocolate , sweetnes and dry .
I wonder with Venezuela if this is sweetened but the lovely notes of typical chocolate dryness are delicious. On reading the fat rum pirates hydrometer test it came in at 19gl wow pure added caramel sugar .
Pecan nuts , cocoa and oak smokiness .

Un bon nez, agrume vanille et bois, mais décevant au goût.

Smell like vanilla and wood, maybe some fruits. Not so significant taste. Little wood there and some vanilla/fruits tones.
Au nez, notes sucrées et fleuries.
A la dégustation, l'alcool est prédominant pour laisser très peu de longueur en bouche.
Pas trop sec ni trop sucré.
OK pour découvrir mais je n'achèterais pas 1 bouteille

Smooth vanilla taste - sometimes it tastes just a little - like watered down. It‘s not a great rum but not a bad one either. I think it fits to chocolate

Rum tasting in Mariehamn Åland continued with Ron Roble Extra Viejo. Very nice bottle and label design. Mahogany color. Plenty of oak and mild vanilla to your nose and palate when neat sipped. Strong and sweet burn at the end. Good but not great Venezuelan Rum.

At first hardly any nose but it opens up nicely in 10-15 minutes. Typical rum flavours; vanilla, various fruits and some oak are present. On the palate this carries on and the fruit becomes mostly cherry. A slight bitter (coffee) also pops up and this goes really well with the (soft) oak.
Well made rum and a pleasant sip but all in all not that special. Semi dry but it nevers feels too sweet and drinks almost like a dry rum (thanks to the bitter I guess) though I think the rum is good enough to leave the sugar out. Well balanced.

Nez léger
Pas trop alcoolisé, léger sans être sirupeux
Pas très complexe, mais agréable quand même.

Had just a sample for the tasting so this is just a first impression, but I don’t think that I will dig deeper into it.
The Ron Roble brand hails from Venezuela and is produced by Rones de Caribe in their distillery near Caracas.
Their Master Distiller Giorgio Melis, is heavily experienced with over 50 years in the drinks industry.
It’s produced from molasses from locally grown sugar cane. The molasses is distilled in a 5 Column Still before aged for 8 to 12 years in 220 litre ex-bourbon oak barrels.
The aroma is dominated by vanilla but in the end notes of glue comes through. In mouth and palate there’s also caramel and almonds together with the vanilla but the glue taste has almost fade-away. The rather short finish tastes about the same. Positive is that it’s not overly sweetened, but overall I think it’s too bland.
