Florida agricole-style rum

This is a great representative of French rhum agricole style rum made on-premises at Sugar Sands distillery near Lake Placid, FL. They’ve crafted a bright, citrusy white rum that works neat and stands up strong in cocktails the same, tasting stronger than most 40° agricole-styles I’ve had without that heavy neutral grain spirit (absence of) flavor. Plenty of local cane terroir here, and no weird aftertaste to follow your sip. The one flaw is it’s scarcity, and the price point is on par with or slightly higher than imported agricoles from Martinique, which I imagine is due to the markedly lower production volume. Rad to have another US distillery making this style!
