Mix with coke don't drink this stuff straight !
Cinnamon and vanilla and sweetness with a 37.5% kick. It's ok with coke if little else
This was a Xmas present. It's a nice present and enjoyable but glad I didn't pay for it
Neat: strange, unusual, not sure if the purists would agree.
Mixed: very tasty drink. Nice touch with the added ginger. Good value.
I'd put this almost on a par with Rebellion. Whereas that one is very sweet, this one is medium-sweet with a big ginger kick. This one is tangy, that one is warming. They are both high up on the list of good quality, reasonably priced rums (roughly £20 or less). This is easily drunk neat or on the rocks, but it also goes well with coke as that will sweeten it a bit and the ginger will still come through very nicely.
After ginger, the main flavours are mixed-spice and a subtle hint of vanilla. There's also a hint of something citrusy, maybe orange. Blimey, what's with people going about heavy vanilla? If you want heavy vanilla try Admiral J, Rolling Calf or Pink Pigeon. Ginger is several times stronger than vanilla here. If it's an anything bomb (which it isn't), it's a ginger bomb.
I'd say it was much more interesting than the rather dull Sailor Jerry and the even duller Foursquare, but Rebellion has the edge on it if you like sweet spiced rums. Elements 8 has more depth and complexity and a better base, but it's a lot more expensive; Chairman's Reserved Spice is better but also less of a session rum than this in that this is light and that is very rich.
A decent spiced rum, very smooth but its just too sweet and the other flavours are fairly overpowered by a strong vanilla flavour.
Ok flavours with hints ginger and vanilla but a little to harsh on the throat to be a sipping rum. Best drunk as a mixer.
Similar aroma to lambs spiced, which is not to may taste, but a lot better to taste with a mixer than Lambs
For me this is very smooth however found the Vanilla overpowering. Tasted like an alcoholic cream soda. Possibly great for parties.
Nice in cocktails or with ginger and lime, but has a dry, cheap flavour that isn't really that impressive. Sweet, heavy on ginger and a whiff of vanilla essence. It is understandable how the mainstream market could like it as overall it isn't that 'bad', it just isn't that impressive when compared to existing spiced rums.
Was given a bottle recently as a gift, its enjoyable, but nothing special still.
Confused by the people that say it's strong on vanilla, and I'm a 'super taster'.
Cheap/mid range rum from supermarket, personally I didn't enjoy this so much.
The first thing I noticed was the chemical aroma. The taste is overwhelmingly vanilla so that any other spices were masked. Mixed with coke the strong vanilla taste remained. Generally unsatisfactory
Ok on it's own, but once you mix it the flavours are lost.I had high hopes for this spiced rum,it's a bit sweet and syrupy too.
Tried the Red Leg Spiced rum on a very rainy Sunday evening and it did not bring me a Caribbean vibe. Very light brown color, definitely some artificial coloring being used. Artificial flavors over power the nose. Cinnamon overload when tasting it. Long burn at the end, and its only 37.5%, so better to skip this one.
