My son offered me a glass of this rum from the Esperance distillery in Guadeloupe that produces the Longueteau, Karukera & Papillon brands.
This Longueteau Symphonie is a blend of different distillates aged for at least 3 years in French oak barrels formerly contained cognac and in new oak barrels. It is a "brut de fût", so it’s bottled without any reduction of the alcoholic strength.
It has been released in many batches with minor differences in ABV. This one is batch 10 and at ABV 48,7%.
I’ve tasted the Prelude in the Harmony range before which was a quite young Agricole. This one, The Symphonie, reveals an already mature woody taste. It will be interesting to taste the Concerto which is the oldest of the three in due time.
On the nose it’s woody, sweet, vegetal and fruity but also with aromas of pepper and citrus
On the palate it’s very round, smooth and fresh. It’s sweet and woody with tastes of citrus, pepper, candied fruit and hints of caramel and licorice.
The finish is medium long.
Overall a fantastic Agricole being so young that could be a perfect introduction to the world of Agricole.
