This Saint James at ABV 60% made from cane juice is not distilled in an column still as most of their produced rum, instead it’s double distilled in copper pot stills.
So because of that it’s an Agricole without being an AOC rum.
The aromas is rich, powerful, dry, floral and peppery.
In mouth and palate it’s intense and dry with some sweetness from cane.
The finish are long and goes on in the same way with pepper and fresh cane juice quite dominant.
It makes a good Ti Punch.
Picture: My opened bottle and a poured glass out in the Stockholm archipelago.

“Inspired by Martinique traditions, Saint James Cœur de Chauffe rum is the middle cut from a double distillation in a pot still"
60% abv
Blanc agricole, notable that this doesnt have the AOC martinique geographical indication since it requires the use of column still.
Nose: phew, very strong no surprise, lots of grass, rubber, aniseed, pepper, underlying of citrus and ripe fruit, quite essential oily, very interesting, lots of spicy aromas on the nose
Palate: tongue numbing pepperiness from the high abv, palate is very briny, also lot of rubbery bitterness in the taste and lots of menthol, aniseed and licorice,
not much citrus or fruit on the taste although there is strong grassiness.
Finish: Burns and burns.
Overall:
Not for me personally, the bitterness and rubberiness is bit too much and there isnt much fruit or citrus character here, this is an interesting blanc but not something i find particularly pleasing, i tried mixing this into painkiller but wasnt that impressed, need to try it again though.

On ne peut pas parler de douceur. Il faut bien le laisser s'ouvrir quelques minutes pour le déguster à sa juste valeur en ti punch
