Multiple | Gold | 40% ABV | Pot Still Distilled

Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.

The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

After some time a bit better, but still nothing to write home about ...

It was decent, but a little pricey... $20 for a half-size (375 mL) bottle. There are other rums in this price range that are better. It had a little bit of sweetness but also some harshness that was softened up with time or ice. The color is fairly orange, looking almost unnatural compared to other dark rums. The bottle with the cork and ribbon were cute. The orange ribbon and orange print seem to be coordinated with the added orange coloring.

Had more expectations for this one. Flavours (orange, cinammon) are so strong that it feels kind of fake. Alcohol punch is quite strong too. Felt a bit cheap in my opinion. Unlike the bottle that would refer to a more premium rum

My hubby and I love the taste of this rum in certain cocktails. Makes great Dessert drinks. It deserves a little higher rating, so I gave it an 8.

This was my first rum I had other than the normal bottom shelf Capt Morgan, Malibu, etc. This rum opened my mind from "ew I don't like rum" to " let me give rum another try". After growing my collection to over ten rums, I look back at this one and realize it isn't that great. However it has a special place in my heart because it brought me to my favorite rums I have found.
The flavor profile is definitely cheaper than Foursquare, Appleton, etc, however it is easily consumable over the Capt Morgan and such.

Poured in a glass and let it sit for five minutes before tasting. It tasted like orange flavored rubbing alcohol, disgusting.I decided to let it sit aside for a couple of hours to see if it would change and it certainly did.The orange kind of takes a step back and cinnamon and vanilla starts coming through along with some butteriness on the back end.As a mixer I would imagine this would be great but a little expensive for that purpose.Overall it's really nice letting it sit and wait for the other notes to come through but waiting two hours is a bit to long of a wait for me. 4/10

Disclaimer: This is a hate it or love it kinda drink.

It's full of additives and some might, rightfully, define this as an orange liquer, and not a rum.

I like the sweetnes and taste of orange and will judge it based on my objective opinion.

Also, og you are going to a pirate party, it's no bottle that will look cooler in your hands.

Pyrat XO Reserve is a rather controversial spirit. I deliberately write spirits and not rum, because if you notice the label, the old bottle says that it is rum and the new one says that it is a premium caribbean spirit. The reason is probably the addition of sugar (24 g / l) and the method of production (flavoring). It is a mixture of rums with an average age of 15 years.

The bottle is very unconventional and I personally like it a lot (including the locket). The bottle is closed with a large cork cap.

The smell is very special. After pouring, technical alcohol and oranges can be smelled strongly. The "rum" needs to be left to stand for a few minutes to evaporate the pungent technical smell of the alcohol. Then the rum is already good in aroma and taste.

After the alcohol evaporates, you can smell vanilla, oranges, marzipan and sweet spices (cloves). This is a sweet dessert type of rum.

I have tasted it several times (from different batches) and it seems to me that the qualitative batches are quite different. Older batches tasted better to me and now the taste and smell is so less pleasant (technically alcoholic).

The real rating is 6.5 out of 10.

Quite nice. Try it. Tasty spirit and not too sweet. Orange/ citrus notes.

Nice and sweet Guyanan Rum. A $50 bottle which can hold its own against some $70 bottles.
