Pyrat XO Reserve

One of my first sipping rums but I never went back. Definitely smooth but dominated by an orange flavor that just doesn't make it for me.

At first, I tough pyrat XO smelled like Southern Comfort. It has a strong and disappointing taste of orange. Alcohol and sugar are subtle on the tongue. Interesting color and cool marketing but overall will end up in rum and Coke or rum punch.

The first time you taste it feels like crap but after 10-15 min in the glass it starts to open

It s ok if you are served but i would not buy it

For this price you should get atleast a mediocre sipper rather than a mediocre mixer. Goes well with hot water and honey if you suffer from a cold. If sipped the first taste is very pineapply and sweet but the aftertaste has too much ethanol in it.

Make sure you let it sit before you drink. There is some orange hints it is not the best sipper. (Burns as it goes down.)

Fairly typical alcohol aroma in the bottle. Sipping it offered an immediate sweetness followed by....orange zest? That orange zest flavor definitely lingers. Somewhat covers any other flavors.

Overall it's a workable rum and rather than use it in Coke Zero, I find it works better with Sprite and also orange juice (go figure). Not a sipping rum for me although others might like it as such.

This is a great rum for the price and I can find it locally. It works great straight up or on the rocks.

PYRAT RUM XO....kahjuks on meil kõigil vahest altminekuid ja nii juhtus ka minuga. Seisis see pudel poes riiulis ja meelitas mind oma kulinatega mis kõik sinna oli külge lisatud.... Ärge seda pruunikat vedelikku küll Neptunile pakkuge muidu veel... Hind oli vist 25 euro kanti...

I always have one or two bottles at the house. Pyrat is smooth and works well on the rocks. It is also an easy rum to find.

a digital rum. you like it - or not! no in between. i like it not. 2 much taste of orange. it tastes artificial.
