Pyrat XO Reserve rum

Pyrat XO Rum is produced from nine different Caribbean rums that are blended and then aged up to 15 years in used American sweet oak barrels.

The squat Pyrat XO rum bottle shape is inspired by the typical design of rum bottles kept by pirates and ship captains in the 19th century.

Somehow..when in the past with the hand blown bottle it was a much better rum. So, if you find a bottle with a stem at the bottom...and b hubble s in the glass....it is worth every sip.

This was my first rum. As I remember, it was really different, then other rums I tasted later. I dont know, if I enjoyed it, or not. Pyrat was first, so I will give him one more point, then I should give him now. There was maybe too much of orange taste.

I was really wanting to like this rum but I cant recommend it as a sipper , its too sharp and has a real alcohol bite to it. On a positive note , I dont find the " hand cleaner " smell or the " overpowering smell of oranges " that people keep on about . Has a real short finish and only as a mixer for me , probably wont buy again.

jolie quille, petite note d'orange amere, mais moins ma tasse de thé.

This was my first better rum, sweet taste, beautiful smell, not harsh or woody, yes it smells and tastes like orange, very good choice for the money, will buy it again. love to sip it, my wife loves to mix it with coke, lime and ice.

Smells easy, full of sweetness and vanilla. Taste too much like oranges. Has not much of a rum. Maybe a drink for non/starting rumdrinkers

Generally a good rum with balanced flavors, but a bit over-priced. Good with Coke.

Very strong notes of pineapple and coconut. A really enjoyable sipper.

Great colour, aroma, and smooth. I like it on the rocks or with a small amount of cola

You cannot beat this rum for the price. Very smooth with vanilla and cocoa notes.

Quite enjoyable orange liquore. Very simple flavour of orange at nose and mouth too. Nothing else. Insanely expensive compare to its average quality. Nice marketing do not change noobish character of rum.

The Pyrat XO actually got me into premium rums. Although with its very special note of citrus fruits it may not everyones taste but experiencing a flavor like this in a fine and pure spirit is not only surprising but although inspirational.

It's rich, smooth and not to forget, it is a pretty stylish drink. When it comes to a tasting with friends who have no experience in rum, this one is definitely a door opener.

I got this because I wanted to try something different and the bottle looked cool for my collection. The rum is sharp and you can definitely taste it. Not smooth and not one to pick up and share

+ sweet taste, gentle flavor, price category, citrus and vanilla aroma
- for someone too much sweet, not for every occasion

I don't honestly know what happened but this just did not taste good. I hate to be overly rude, but it really does smell like an orange cleaner...

I think this is a rum good to start with for people who never tried rum before, it's not complicated flavours and "easy" to drink. Not a top one but good enough, also I like the design and the cork noise hehe

I'm not exactly an expert here, but after sipping this stuff, and reading the reviews here, i am quite surprised. I come over from a whisky (mostly bourbon) background, and I've got to say before you say this is "harsh" go try a good stiff sip of rye.
anyways, what I found in this drink was really neat. after smelling it, most of what I am getting is what I would describe as some kind of caramelized vanilla. after swishing it around a little, it comes through as more like the molasses it comes from. on my first sip, I thought it tasted almost like pure fruit juice, very sweet flavor. as it settled in my mouth, I started feeling more and more molasses in my mouth, like I just had a sip out of a jar of thin molasses... wow! through the whole experience, you do taste a subtle mix of oak in the drink, not too strong at all but it's a nice addition in the palate. overall, nothing close to harsh, but to me, it has two really strong flavors in the mix that you should be aware of.
