This is something different... A natural kind of citrustaste appears and this is so smooth and so sweet. A smell that is from another world and the taste is beyond anything - you MUST experience this. unfortunately it's impossible right now to get a bottle in europe :(
It was intense, complex, sweet flavour, perfect to finish a diner in the Caribbean with a nice cigar...
if you think the pyrat XO reserve is great you would love the pyrat cask. Very long taste after drinking, amazing taste
It's compared to the Pyrat XO the perfect balance of the orange flavour. It is very smooth and oily to sip and the age of up to 40 years makes this rum to a very long lasting joy.
It's quite an expensive price for a rum where you don't know exactly the percentage of rum that really has been aged for 40 years of this bottle. One would assume that with the growing demand of rum, the percentage of long aged rum will decrease and younger aged rums will take over.
love it. A great treat. Love to sip and watch the sun go down.
This is (at the moment) the best rum I have tasted.
It has it all: rich flavors, long aftertaste and enough sugar to satisfy my sweet taste.
It is also the most expensive rum i have bought - and for the price I should not give it a 10 but an 8 maybe.
It has the same orange flavor as the Pyrat XO Rum. But is much richer, witch you should expect at 5 times the price.
overpriced? maby - excelent yes!
I bought a bottle of this in the Bahamas when we were down for Rum Bahamas. It seems thinker and sweeter than the XO. A very good sipper, but not one of my absolute favorites for the price. A good bottle to have in an extensive collection.
I received this as a gift from a vendor. I only will have a sip on occasion to make it last longer. (ok a few fingers) It's a tasty rum but wayyy over priced. I certainly would not buy this for myself.
Excellent alternative to a Cognac. Perfect on a cold winter's night or anytime. Price has skyrocketed. Probably won't buy again. Savor what you have.
...for the price! Definitely better than drinking the "regular" Pyrat, however, because a LOT more refined and is sippable! However, I prefer El Dorado 21, Flor di Cana 18, and Zacapa XO to this which is typically significantly less expensive...
BUT, IF you have a rum bar at home, this bottle and packaging looks so impressive on the bar, plus it is pretty tasty!
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I did a blind taste test between this and the Pyrat XO, neither of which I had tried before. One smelled like an orange rum, the other like an orange liquor. This was the orange liquor. This was a little smoother than the XO, but I prefer the taste of the XO. Not much more to describe about the smell and taste other than a sweet orange liquor. A bit too orangey sweet for my liking. It's not bad, but the taste doesn't justify the price.
If you like orange liquor, I think the Clement Creole Shrubb is a far better choice.
