Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV

The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.

Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.

Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

Not bad or great. Strong flavor. Reminds me a little of appleton estate reserve but not quite as good.

Really nice complexity here, some bitter, some sting, some oak and a nice mix of burnt sugar and caramel. Highly recommended for a conversation starter and a nice sipper.

It’s a good quality rum, but the spices just aren’t for me. I’m sure it goes great in a cocktail, but I rate just on sipping. I will say that as a new rum drinker, this rum had very noticeable layers which I found interesting. I don’t know exactly what spice or flavor it was, but it was the first note, but then I got the sweeter notes after. Still a cool historical piece from the British navy history, and cool to have in the collection.

I like to use this instead of a Jamaican rum. It has some Hugo/Funk but not too much like Smith and Cross.

Reminds me of the dark Navy Captain Morgan or Lamb's dark Navy Rum...

This Rum is not my style. Perhaps I'm just not a fan of Naval Rums. Of course, I'm sure if I had been provided a daily rationing of this while serving, I might have a different perspective!

Travelling to London I made it my mission to try Pussers rum as it is difficult to find in Canada. I was not disappointed. This is an excellent tasting rum that goes down smoothly.
