Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year rum

Pusser's British Navy Blue Label ABV40 3-Year

FL
had this rum recently

Virgin Islands, British | Aged | 40% ABV

The Great British Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970. In 1979 Charles Tobias bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum it available for public consumption.

Pusser’s British Navy rum today is the same blend of five West Indian rums as the British Admiralty issued to sailors.

Known as the “single malt of rum” Pusser’s British Navy rum is pot stilled using a similar method as that for single malt scotches, and with no artificial flavors is 100% natural.

Love this in a Painkiller like they do in St John and Tortola. Have tried others in this cocktail and mothing beats Pussers. A little too harsh for sipping but when you want to kick up a punch or a mai tai this is great rum at a ddcent price point in New England ( 24$ 750ml)

My favorite everyday rum. I know it catches a lot of heat from the rum snobs, but I truly believe that they should give it another go. Yea, it can have a little "bite", but it mellows out after bit.

Can't beat the Pusser story either. Just adds that little extra pizzazz to the experience.

A piece of history that will always be in my collection.
Ester rich, pungent pot stilled perfection. Stewed fruits, brine and spice.
Brilliant.
The bench mark for Navy rum.

I only left a star off because the overproof is really the authentic deal but it's the same rum just with less water added.

If this is the benchmark for "Navy Rum", then sign me up. A little spiciness to kick it into high-gear, with caramel/butterscotch, toffee, and mild hints of orange in there somewhere, Pusser's has character! Very much tolerable straight-up, this is a good drink in just about anything - citrus juices, Coke, Sprite/7-Up, you name it! Pusser's commands respect - it's got mine!

The funkiness of this rum is outstanding. For $25 a bottle, there is no better rum. I drink half a bottle a day and though I will doubtlessly die of liver failure I have no regrets. It's a totally enjoyable self imposed death. Delicious.

If you are heading to the British VI, You need to pay a visit to the Soggy Dollar Bar and have their trademark drink the Pain Killer It is Awesome. Pusser's is a nice rum but so much nicer as a Pain Killer..lol

The original and in my view best Navy rum. Quite a floral nose with tones of leather carry into treacly stewed stone fruits in a long full bodied finish. Awesome in Tiki cocktails. Painkiller and Grog this way please!! :-D

This rum is unbelievably good for its price.
Quite unique taste and aroma. Lighlty reminds whiskey with smoked rags aroma, but taste is lightly sweet with oak notes and fruity longlasting finish.
Excellent

This rum has that west indies funky taste in spades, I only wish I had tried it sooner!! I will definitely be keeping this one on hand permanently. I will definitely be trying the aged and the overproof as well. Has a similar funk as the Jamaican rums from Hampden like Smith and Cross etc.

A little bite up front, then fairly mellow with a mild molasses finish.
Not the finest or smoothest but everything a rum should be! My go to.
