I got the opportunity to attend a rum tasting with Daniele Biondi from Velier were we tasted 9 different rums. This was the third rum of the night, that we tasted side-by-side with its 46abv brother. This was just a mouthful of flavour. Not the biggest funk taste, but certainly something for all (Jamaican) rumfans.

Nose: Overripe pineapple, ginger, vax and some hints of oaky sweetness and funk
Taste: Oak, overripe tropical fruits, bananas, funk, ginger and a small hint of brown sugar with a long and warm aftertaste that lingers for quite a while.
Overall: This is really a great bottle of rum. If you are really into the funky stuff from Jamaica, then you might want to give this a pass, but it would be a mistake. For all others this is a must-try if you have the chance.

Intense smoke and oak tones and strong tail. Burn is well rounded.

This is my 200th rating. Bye.

Nose: High intense aroma that will delightfully permeate any room that you pour the dram in. Funky, overriped fruits, grilled pineapples, overbaked banana bread with ginger, surrounded by phenolic notes.
Palate: Overriped tropical fruits, burnt pineapple, over baked banana bread, exotic spices, oaky, heavy resin with a long long finish.
Pity that this has been replaced by the Batch 2 HLCF. Another good rum but i do prefer the Batch 1

On the hot side of a neat sipping rum this delivers the balanced Hampden flavors of barrel aging and funk well rounded with the power of a freight train.

The rum is a blend of Pot Still distillate, having aged for about 8 years entirely in Trelawny, Jamaica with a golden colour. There is some funk in the nose, but this is not too dominant with other added nosing flavours of chocolate, tea and bananas. And yes, the alcohol / petrol is also there. On the palate the funky notes are more present together with heavy oak, fruits and spicy notes of ginger and cinnamon. The finish is nice and warming with much oak and some fruity notes. Finish is longlasting. This is a pleasant sipper if you adjust the size of your sip to the full 60% ABV. Real grade is 8.5

Vůně - ester, banán, tropické ovoce
Chuť - chuť je stejná jako vůně a to se cení - ester, banán, tropické ovoce
Celkově - lehký a příjemný konec. Na to že je to overproof, tak je příjemně jemný.

Funky pot still flavor bomb! Everything I want in a Jamaican rum. Definitely one of my favorites from Hampden I’ve got so far. For the Abv and the price point, this can’t be beat.

Wow, this one is fantastic. Amazingly smooth for the ABV which really opens this up. You know it is Jamaican, but not in an overpowering way whatsoever. Just pleasant to both smell and taste. Lightly sweet, nicely fruity and spicy. Good medium body and medium finish. I'm impressed.

bought this bottle a month ago because i m preparing for the next season, will add authentic rums and remove sweetened stuff (ok not all because some are very good selling...), down in the bar i already have it s 46% brother, already rated, this one is stronger (but very similar nose and mouth), really warms your mouth when drank neat, will be better if drank to warm me this winter, because i prefer it neat, because ice will remove some flavors, it s smoky and oaky, but fruits very present under the smoke and oak but it s very different from Bajan fruitiness, it s a very good tasty product (100% pot still), spent around 80 euro and i will buy it again (fortunately it s not a limited edition)

Mainly gold with a little amber colour. Heavy alcohol (as one would expect) and dried fruit on the nose. Some hints of Jamaican funk, but not overly pronounced here. Different from other Jamaicans I have tried. Same flavours going down. Heavy burn when served neat, but with some ice it becomes a strong sipper. It is Outstanding mixed with some Fever-Tree Ginger Beer.
