Nose: a lot of alcohol is right up front but if you get deeper into the glass there is some sweetness and butterscotch. Smell dissipates quickly.
Taste: starts of with a small burn that keeps going. Lots of spices in this one and some molasses. Coats your mouth with a pleasant sweetness. Full-bodied.
Finish: sweetness keeps lingering for a while. Ends with a slight intensifying burn while the sweetness remains.
Final: this is my go-to rum when a recipe calls for a gold Puerto Rican rum since it has better mouthfeel and more complexity than other column still rums. It is full-bodied and has a pleasant sweetness which also qualifies it to be a sipper. This is a good example of a rum that can be used for both purposes and would recommend to people that like a clean, relatively cheap and smooth rum.
Notes: added 3 drops of water. Also, I'm an inexpercienced taster so the details might be inaccurate, but it's still really enjoyable for my still-developing palate.

Barely anything on the nose… like is there alcohol in there? Then tasting, initially a very light caramel flavour that very quickly gets overtaken by a pure alcohol burn. Very little after taste except for some smokiness. I bought it for cocktails but im wondering if camouflaging it in a cocktail will make it better. This was the first and definitely the last time of picking this one up from a store.

My local bars have no good rum, so when I stopped in a bar which had this on the shelf, I was surprised and very happy. Typically grassiness from Spanish style rums, nice toffee and caramel notes. Nothing exceptional, but also really nice if there’s nothing else around. Has a special place in my heart. You did good kid, you did good haha.

Smooth mouth and throat feel. Getting flavors of vanilla, carmel, brown sugar, and slight apple. Has a nice lasting finish with good warmth. This is not a complex rum, but the blending is done well. Surprisingly smooth all around.

Hint: when I added a few drops of water, it produced a distinct carmel apple note.

Mixed with Coke, good but not great. Hard to identify aftertaste.

Drinkt prima weg. Smaak is goed en ligt tikkeltje scherp in de mond.

I gave Bacardi a chance with one of their “higher-end” rums and it’s about what I expected. Overly sweet and tasting full of additives.

A real surprising find - its a Barcardi that actually is very nice. Whilst being extremely light on our noses we weren't expecting much but actually the taste comes punching through, citrus and light woody notes all the way through and ends very creamy and with a little hint of something spicy. £31 retail and this is a really great rum for that price, we'd easily replace this bottle with a new one when it ends. We're rum snobs and are so really shocked by how it came out but the lack of smell lets it down - good, yes, just not good on all points.

Rating: 6/10

Smell - light, sweet, vanilla
Taste - rich in flavour, full-bodied, citrus, cedarwood, cocoa
After Taste - medium to long, creamy, a little hint of spice that isn't overwhelming

Od tohto brandu som skúsil len lacný a nepresvedčivý Oakheart, v minulosti tiež biely rum do cuba libre, kde v podstate nemal čo pokaziť. Fľaša 8-ročného je veľmi pekne prevedená, farba je štandardne zlatohnedá. Vôňa decentná, nie príliš výrazná, cítiť karamel, vanilku a zľahka dubové drevo. Chuťovo je trochu ostrejší, stredne sladký, zachytávam ešte kožu a dym, v ďalších dúškoch tiež intenzívne medové tóny. Relatívne dobre vybalansovaný, rušiť začne až ľahká štipľavosť a horkosť v závere. Na bežný deň pohodový sipper, na nič extra sa nehrá, vek priznáva tučným písmom. Subjektívne silná šestka, keď bude v zľave, rád sa k nemu vrátim.
