Tasty, but not quite great
Unlike the others "gold" rum this one keep the taste of fresh grass, have kind of sweentess and a little bit of bitterness. Of course it cant compare with more aged rhum but Clement Ambre is very goof for more tiki-cocktails and even on its own!
I bought it because a cocktail recipe asked for rhum which I had never heard of before. I like the well rounded taste. It's smooth and caries a cocktail quite well.
Deep nose without any body. First sip is very sharp with a raw alcohol taste, definitely not a sipper. Medicinal flavor when mixed, just not a fan of this.
The aroma is complex and strong: cane and alcohol (annoying, but not yet burns), then the freshness of dew, strawberries, peppers, bush branches, elderberry, resin. Violence and insolence.
Mouth: burns cruelly not for long, the feeling of lightness in the mouth and heaviness in the stomach, a wooden noticeable bitterness, to swallow through the times, acidity.
High quality for one-year aging.
Not a bad room but nothing special. Smell of fruit, coffee and vanilla, persistent and pleasant flavor. Not suitable for tastings, but excellent for special cocktails
