Tasty, but not quite great
Can’t help it, fan of the Plantation brand here...absolutely no affiliation, though. Nice on the nose, slight honey, caramel. Warm across the tongue with more toffee & honey notes; smooth across the back; overall a good deal at $40 USD; not quite as good as their Single Cask 2009, but much easier on the pocketbook.

In der Nase einfach eine Wucht. Frisch gebackene Brötchen mit allerlei tropischen Früchten belegt. Litschi , Mangostane, Ananas, getrockneten Kokosflocken und Zitruszesten. Die Brötchen sind mit Zimt bestäubt und mit Schokolade und Vanille gefüllt. Eingepackt in einen duftenden hölzernen Hauch.
Am Gaumen weich, sanft und süss lieblich wie ein Plantation so ist. Ein funky Vanillepudding mit karamellisierten tropischen Früchten und Schokoflocken gespickt. Süsses helles Karamell und leicht geröstetes Eichenholz erweitern Raum und Zeit.
Im Abgang lang und voller Überraschungen. Zuerst Schokolade, dann Marzipan und danach soviel Früchtekuchen wie Du magst.
Ein wirklich toller Rum, nicht so extrem funky und doch mit viel Körper. Geeignet für Einsteiger in die Jamaika-Welt und Süssrum-Lover. Pur-Rum-Lover sollten sich auch ein Glass gönnen. 8+

In the nose simply a blast. Freshly baked rolls with all kinds of tropical fruits. Litchi, mangosteen, pineapple, dried coconut flakes and citrus zests. The rolls are dusted with cinnamon and filled with chocolate and vanilla. Wrapped in a fragrant wooden wrap.
On the palate, soft, smooth and sweetly sweet as a plantation is. A funky vanilla pudding filled with caramelized tropical fruits and chocolate flakes. Sweet light caramel and lightly toasted oak extend space and time.
Long and full of surprises on the finish. First chocolate, then marzipan and then as much fruit cake as you like.
A really great rum, not so extremely funky and yet with lots of body. Suitable for beginners in the Jamaica world and sweet rum lovers. Pure rum lovers should also treat themselves to a glass. 8+
Jamaican rum from the Plantation range, made with a blend of spirits from the Long Pond and Clarendon distilleries, matured in bourbon casks for 12 years before moving over to Ferrand Cognac casks for a year before bottling.
Mocha, Turkish delight floral top notes, fresh banana and a touch of melted butter.
A nice sipper. Sweet fruity taste of vanilla, caramel and cinnamon. Lengthy after taste with pleasant notes of the above. Pleasant and inviting scent.
Little Tropical taste without sweetness... nice quality but I would like this to be more round with buttery feeling less dry and balance sweetness with more intense tropical fruits as XO 20 anniversary.
That funky Jamaican nose that follows up on the tongue...there is a bite that for me keeps it from being a true sipper. Mixed with Ginger Ale the first few tastes were a bit to much funk but as you continued it had a nice finish with varied tastes coming forward. Even better with Coke.
This is a nice Rum but not that special so will not stay in my bar long term.
A good amount of funkiness is found amid a generous nose full of ripe banana, papaya, spicy ginger and a faint top note of lime. The palate has more dry, oaky flavours than the nose suggests, with a substantial burn that arrives mid-palate and carries off into the fairly long finish. Some may find that burn distracting. There is also a dry, herbal note on the palate...sage like?? I like the nose more but taken together, it’s a very interesting sipping rum. Recommended.
