So I tried it. Mostly because of the 101 proof rating. Not good. Plenty of other strong rums at the same proof that you can actually drink and enjoy.

Had a rum tasting on a sunny Saturday afternoon, because why not. Admiral Nelson's Premium 101 Proof Rum bottle looks very cheap and low end. Awful artificial flavor burst followed with pure alcohol to the nose and palate. Very strong burn at the end. Better skip this one for your own sanity.

Being the most affordable rum in my location I have no problem grabbing a bottle of the Admiral and a six pack of coke when it's going to be one of those nights when a drunk is your goal.
