Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled
Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

This is by far the best rum I’ve had to date! Sweet (but not overly), smooth with hints of coconut, vanilla, and caramel. Highly recommended!

Even though this has obviously added sugar and flavours, it's expertly balanced, and it's base quality is not hidden by those additives

Smooth, somewhat sweet and reasonably priced. Not the best that plantation has to offer but a great introduction to rum as well as a good "everyday rum".

riecht anfangs etwas nach saurem Hering in Sahnesoße, schmeckt super
Smooth to drink neat. Rich and complex. Enjoyed with my son.

This is a really nice bottle of rum, but I just don't get the hype. It's very nice up front, but it has a much stronger burn on the back end than what I would expect for a really good quality aged rum. It's not as smooth, for a lack of a better word. I'm not much for sipping rums, but I've definitely had rums I would prefer to sip over this one. As an expensive mixer, it's fantastic, but I'm not sure I would be willing to pay this price for a mixing rum. If this was $20-30 cheaper, this would be one of my go to mixers.
Un délice, rum de qualité, doux en bouche sans goût d’alcool une fois avalé. Arôme de vanille prononcé, tous conviendront qu’il est l’un des meilleurs.

I don’t have all that many rums to compare to and not as refined a taste as a lot of others, but I love the complexity. The taste evolves in your mouth as you drink it. My only gripe is that after a moment there’s a burning sensation on the tongue. Not so bad that it‘d really take away from the greatness, but more something to be aware of on the finish.
EDIT: Having tasted a lot more rums at this point I'm feeling a little differently about this now. I'm changing my original 9 to a 7. I still think it's a great tasting rum with a flavor that evolves in your mouth while you drink it, but I've found an offering at a lower price that has this one beat in every category: Mount Gay XO. So on taste alone I'd still give it an 8.5, but the fact that it has as much sugar added to it as the EU allows I find a little disappointing. It's not like Plantation simply cannot manage to bottle something good without sugar (OFTD) or even something good with a little sugar (3 Stars), but for a 20th Anniversary edition I was kind of hoping for something that celebrates the art of rum making a little more than the art of adding sugar. I do understand that dosage is part of the philosophy of Plantation, but adding the maximum legal amount is not what I'd consider tasteful. So my final rating is 6.5, rounding up to a 7 here, as I still enjoy it as a dessert in a glass.

This is the best of their core lineup and is very reasonably priced for what you are getting here. Leaving some room at the top for the limited releases, but I can see this being a 10 for many people and I wouldn't argue.

One of the best rums I have tasted. It is excellent, sweet, balanced. I highly recommend this rum. absolutely to taste.
It tastes pretty much like a coconut liqueur.
"An overly sweet saccharin note which make the rum taste artificial. ."

It's a very sweety rhum. very nice without agressivity. But this rhum is a little to coco flavour for me.
