Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

Smooth and easy drinking rum. Aroma opens slowly, leave it for 5 minutes in your glass to open up. Dark chocolate notes, when tasting after couple of seconds one can feel note of chocolate brownie. Finish is like after dark chocolate drink, slightly sweet but not overwhelming. Very satisfied with this bottle!

If you’ve had the Plantation Barbados 5 year but want a more refined, aged, oak-ier rum that also makes you and your bottle collection look really fancy then this is the rum for you. Not nearly as sweet at the regular Barbados 5-year from Plantation but it definitely does not disappoint if you are a fan of their rums. Its price is high, yet warranted. There are a lot less expensive bottles out there that will do what this does. It’s the perfect bottle to ask for as a gift and it looks nice too. It also goes really well with cigars, even better than bourbon. But that’s probably because bourbon is garbage compared to rum. Then again, that’s just my opinion

Good flavor with vanilla and caramel tones. Smooth and sipable.
Because of this rum I started drinking rums. I was lucky I got this one as a gift. It opened my eyes about rums. After few years tasting diferent rums, this one is still the best. But I havent tried more expensive ones yet.
A very smooth rum that is perfect to drink pure or in a mix ( but i think that mixing this rum is a waste of the rum) hints of vanilla and oak. Not to sweet just perfect for me!

I would describe Plantation XO 20th to lack some character. It has a bit sweet and very mild fruity approach to the nose. Some say that it has some coconut flavour, maybe a bit of vanilla - and the barrel of course.
Very easy to drink and not that much after taste. I can see why people enjoy this. I would probably use this as an introduction to the rum world.
A rum as you would expect, nice flavor and long finish. Definitely worth it.

Great rum, my current favourite out a fair few we have tried.
Very smooth, can be neat or on the rocks.
For me a vanilla hint, it is sweet as well, but the rum does contain a bit more sugar than normal.
Well worth the buy.

This is close to perfection. A perfect marriage of a touch of sweetness with wonderful complexity and unique character. The color? Deserving of a place in the best Caribbean island sunsets. The aroma? Enticing in all the right ways.
The taste? It opens up with everything you expect from a premium sipping rum, and then goes on to top that by giving a light and pleasant toasted coconut flavor for miles and miles on the finish. This rum has the most finish and best mouthfeel I’ve had the pleasure of sipping this far.
While I have yet to find anything that is this delicious and unique yet, I gave it a 9 with hope that some of the really premium stuff out there I have not yet tried may still be better yet. Hard to imagine though.
This is tops and should be in every rum lovers collection. Hell, even if the rum was average, that bottle screams out pure rum awesomeness.
