Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

We all remember our first love. I certainly do. It was this handsomely presented decanter-style bottle of XO rum from Barbados. And it truly was love at first sip. Several years later, it is still my regular go-to-guy when I feel like a dive in the pool of rum. Old love never rusts, they say. I'll drink to that!
Let's have a taste: The nose is rather strong and feisty, but the taste is smooth and sweet with almost zero burn. The added sugar amounts to 24 g/L, but does in no way overshadow the complex aromas of toasted coconut and banana with subtle hints of cocoa, candied orange and cigar box.
The Plantation XO 20th Anniversary offers lots and lots of liquid value for the dollar, it's well-balanced and will satisfy the rum novice as well as a more experienced rum consumer.
Barbados rum at it's finest. 94/100

Very good sipping rum, nice color, flavorful and very smooth. Nice touch of vanilla. The alcohol is not that strong. Love it

This rum was my first. Without any experience, I can say that first smell of it create feelings like no drink before. I was hooked to rums. Now I am on the begining of enjoyable adventure of discovering new superb tastes of superior rums.
Totally looking forward.
This rum will stay my first love which pull me in this wonderful world.
A luvly sweet treat... very good sipping rum indeed.
Excellent rum! All components are in house; sweetness, oaky, warmth and spicy. And not to forget, complete and balanced in taste!

I’m new to fine rims, but I found this one to be very good. For me, vanilla and the wood of the barrels comes across the strongest. I found it smooth and warm.

Komplex mit Noten von Vanille, Kokos, Bananen und Nüssen.

This one is so good. Soft, smooth, full and sweet, but no´t too sweet. Hint of vanilla and caramell.

Well,
Plantation has easily the most consciousness marketing department that existed. All the way from the box to the bottle no corners were cut. I could write a mile long summary on that alone but that's not why we are here. Opening the bottle and sniffing it gives you a bunch of wonderful hints, first the cask then some coconut, spices (maybe cinnamon) and a very nice sugar smell. In the glass its a very dark amber, tasting it neat is a very warming rum, extremely well balanced. The coconut is a unique surprise that i'm not used to in aged rums and it makes a very nice addition to the collection. Noting its balanced you get hints of chocolate (probably dark chocolate), oak cask, alcohol,the coconut and vanilla. The coconut after taste lingers for a long time. In cola its good but not as good as straight up. Since its balanced the cola kills some of its unique hints, still very good however. I can see this bottle being a mega hit at a holiday party.
8.5 on rum and .5 bonus points on packaging/bottle.
