Multiple | Aged | 40% ABV | Pot and Column Still Distilled

Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.

The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.

I bought this rum based on reviews on this site. I had previously tried the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva (great but too sweet), El Dorado 15 (tastes like Whisky to me), and Mount Gay XO (good foundation but nothing extraordinary).

This is really great. I can smell coconut and banana, and I can taste it too. I don't get the vanilla too much.

I find the burn to be stronger than the others I have tried, especially when smelling. It can use a little water or sitting on the counter for a while.

Really pleased, too bad it cost me CAD $80+.

En la boca y nariz Caribe puro, notas de banana, coco, piña y vainilla. Aterciopelado y muy suave. Un gran ron de Plantation y una hermosa botella. Uno de mis favoritos.

Well balanced, slight sweet, but lacks some depth.

Eccellenza allo stato puro. Gran rum da meditazione

Excellent.
Beaucoup de goût, le feu de l'alcool est très peu présent, on en redemande. De quoi finir alcoolique en ayant la bénédiction des médecins.

The box it came in was made of a bit flimsy cardboard but had a nice graphical design. After opening the box, the true beauty of this rum showed itself. The bottle is beautiful with a cork on top that is better looking than any I have ever seen.

When I tried this rum I was blown away by the taste. I'm not even going to give any tasting notes, you should just try this one! It is one of my most expensive rums thus far but this one is definitely worth the price. More so than any other rum I've bought.

Just take the chance and buy it!

This rum was included in a tasting set gift I was given and I immediately ran out to buy a bottle.
It is a very nice rum and at the right price point, you can certainly pay a lot more for inferior rums.

It is on the sweeter side (which I like personally), but not overly so and you can taste the layers of complexity. Very smooth and it has a nice rich natural exotic taste, which is lovely
(no a trace of that chemical or manufactured taste you sometimes get with some sweet rums, which can spoil things.)

The bottle presentation is excellent too.

Wow! What a great rum! I bought it in Canada, it's 75$ the bottle, so it's expensive, but worth the price. You can feel a light after burn after each sip, more than other good rums like the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, because I think the Plantation has less sugar. I definetely recommend it.

Intense nose mainly vanilla and caramel. Lets guess a sweet balance, that is confirmed in the mouth. This makes the rhum too heavy and kills any character, class it could have. I am not fan of this kind of rhum, and really perfer dry ones, from french Antilles for example.

This rum is a true masterpiece of distillery. Very sweet but in a strongly pleasant and natural way. Hints of vanilla, some exotic fruit and caramel. If you like rum I'd definitely recommend this rum especially for its rather low price.

Based on others' experiences I approached this bottle with some anticipation. And my first reaction was that it was a little too brandy like for me-I'll admit I reward viscous mouth feel in my ratings. A couple of further tastings has increased my liking for it. I still would rather have Exclusiva or Millonario 15 for a treat, and 2 bottles of the Plantation 5 is more value for money, but this is still a solid 8 for me.
