Plantation XO 20th Anniversary rum is a combination of pot-stilled and column-stilled Barbadian rums that are initially aged in the Caribbean in ex-bourbon casks for 12-20 years. They are then transported to France for a second 12-18 months aging in small French oak casks.
The first bottle of Plantation XO 20th Anniversary was created for the head of Cognac Ferrand Estate Alexandre Gabriel to honor his 20th year running the company. This special gift has resulted in the bottling we see today.
Such a good blend of pineapple, banana, honey and coconut. The flavors are complex. The golden hue is regal and a slight inhalation by the nose will tell your brain it should be excited.
One of my favorite runs. Very smooth. No burn. Not to sweet with mild flavours caramel vanilla coconut
Strong alcohol aftertaste. I was really not expecting it in an expensive rum. Added sugar as well. Not worth the price.
A smooth, sipping rum with a flavor that is more coconut forward than most. Still, sweet, delicious, and a great value!
An excellent sipper, even competes with the likes of an El Dorado 21 in my book. Not overly sweet, and gives a nice hint of caramel on the aftertaste. One of my favorites for sure, and grateful for its easy availability in my area. It's guilt-free sipping!
Nice sweet summer rum, light and pleasant, but a little bit too sweet as for me. Nice notes of coconut and tropical fruits beautifully combined with gentle oakiness. A good sipping choice.
Nose: Light, creamy, coconut notes, vanilla, fruitiness (apricots, lychees), toffee, white chocolate
Palate: Sweet, hint of ginger, vanilla butterscotch, apricots, melon, a bit of oak
Finish: Short, sweet, slightly nutty and oaky, orange zest, coconut water
Un de mes rhums préféré. Doux et riche. Il vaut le coût d'être goûté.
One of my favorite rums. Sweet. Caramel and butterscotch coming through. Smooth medium bodied. My one complaint would be it could be more full bodied with longer lasting flavors. Overall plantation rums are fantastic blenders and all great rums for the price.
Had high hopes for this one but came away slightly disappointed. After a little time in the glass, it opened up nicely and offered a nice flavor profile. Still had just a bit too much rough edge to it to get me seeking it out regularly. Definitely an interesting, flavorful option...just think it could have been more.
The very first thing I noticed about this was the coconut taste.
The label on the bottle mentions this, along with vanilla and banana notes.
I get the vanilla if I look for it, but the banana, not so much :-/
The more I drink of it, the less I notice the coconut, which is odd.
This rum is very smooth with very little tongue-burn, though the finish can be a little hot in the throat.
The finish is quite oaky, but in a good way. It sort of refreshes the palete for the next initial note of honey and caramel.
All-round, I really like this. This is the second variety from Plantation which scores well for me, so I expect to try some other ones ... and it looks like there are quite a few different ones.
Its a outstanding rum wit a perfect balance beteeen sweetness and tasts
I love this, drink neat or with ice.
Only misses the final touch to be a 10/10.
Great taste, sweet coconuty taste.
One of my favorite rums. The only negative aspect: the bottle is so small...
Beaucoup de douceur de rondeur et de saveur.
Un rhum équilibré qui manque tout de même de force
Je préfère les millésimes de plantation. Là Plantation fait un rhum passe partout trés marqué sur les fruits et sur le sucre. Dommage
Perhaps a new favourite rum! Absolutely fantastic sipping rum with a nice smooth body and taste.
By far my favourite rum of the moment, cheap enough to buy an drink copious amounts . Still have a small reserve of Pyrat Cask 1623, that I drink on special occasions which now due to Plantation might not see the light of day!
Incredibly smooth, just the right amount of sweetness, & vanilla tones.
Bottle is a beauty on the shelf.
You won’t be disappointed!
Good rum for the price some good flavour noted well presented
Just at the beginning of the bottle but a smooth sipper so far. Probably too good to mix
Es un exelente ron patomar solo...muy suave y delicado
Plantation has a few really good bottles, but in my opinion this isn't one of them. As is the Plantation way, they have taken a rum, this time from Barbados, and added a lot of sugar. At the $40-$50 price, there are just far better rums ... Especially Barbados rums.
This rum appears in a very exclusive looking bottle, and the smell is smooth and full of impressions from the Caribbean. I can taste a variation of coconut, vanilla, a little exotic fruits, and the rum have a lasting taste, and no burn. A great everyday zipper!
