Marks & Spencer Trinidad & Guyana Blended Spiced

This rum is meant for mixing and not to be sipped. Good for a rum and cola.

Bought this for mixing and was pleasantly surprised. Nice colour, nice nose. Really good price for UK market.

I bought a bottle of this, not expecting anything fantastic. I suppose I expected it to be one of two things, either very spicy, like the heavy cloves of Dark Matter, or not at all spicy, like most basic vanilla spiced rums.
However, once opened, it disappeared in a few days. It is quite delightful as a sipper.
Yes, it is heavy on spice, but I feel they are well-balanced and do not overshadow the rum at the base of this drink. Cinnamon, cardamom, and some festive citrus.
There isn't a huge amount of burn. Indeed, once the first couple of glasses have been drained, it would almost be gulpable.
Whilst I don't usually go out of my way to buy spiced rum, this one will always have a place in my drinks cupboard. In fact, I bought another one just today from M&S.
I also got a bottle of Plantation Guatemala and Belize Gran Anejo, which I've literally just started.
To be fair, M&S (Chester, UK) seemed to have a pretty decent selection of interesting rums.
