I do really enjoy this rum. Color is perfect, smell is very nice and taste is so smooth and complex, real pleasure. Bottle is really nice, with cool wooden plug, wich adds little bit on exlusivity.

My spouse felt in love to one of them instantly... After first sip she has confiscated the bottle )) and has declared that is lovely Ratu from Fiji . The thing is the spice, likely cinammon which is dominant in the flavor and slightly in aroma.
If there's special subcategory then Spiced scores 10. If compared to his older brother - score 7.
And here it is Admiral Rodney. One of the best. Complex, rich and long lasting. Wish to try all the flotilla commanded by this admiral.

We selected this bottle to write some tasting notes up for our WSET II course at home, and wow, it'a beauty. Well Done St. Lucia.

Appearance: Clean, medium amber
Nose: Clean, medium + intensity. Sultanas, vanilla, tobacco, caramel, cocoa, cloves, brown sugar and allspice
Palate: Clean, smooth and mouthfilling. Dry (although it has an appearance of sweetness, not residual sugar) with a medium + intensity, tobacco, caramel, dark chocolate, cloves and baking spices. Long finish, very complex.
Overall rating: Outstanding.

More caramel notes than the princessa, traditional st lucia burn but smoother, nice long lasting caramel finish

Unfortunately I haven't currently got a bottle of the "standard" Adm Rodney XO to compare it to, and memory is a little hazy!! It comes across as having a lot more soft oak. However I don't quite understand the pricing structure. The standard Admiral Rodney is a 12yo, and this one is a 7yo yet more expensive.

My personal preference is a dry rum (no sugar added), that is warm and spicy with a good gentle burn from the alcohol and with a heavy dose of oak. Not so much that it masks flavours, and not sweet sherry oak. A rum with a good length and that is unctuous. This rum has it all.

It is to me really superb....I just now want to try it against the normal Admiral Rodney to see what the difference really is!!!

At first nip no smell and no taste yet leave it alone for a day and it's a nice rum caramel brown sugar and tropical fruits. Wow after a quarter bottle starting to taste more notes of tobacco and leather with the brown sugar and fruit notes really enjoyable
