Hybrid Rum that can be used as a top notch mixer or a very satisfying sipper.
Given its price also, I believe its a necessary addition to every bar
Gold-Amber Color, Rich taste (can feel the ageing of the Rum even if its only 5 years)
Tasting profile:Tropical Fruits, vanilla
For about $20 your really getting your moneys worth.
Sweetness in the start followed by a short taste of the casket with a burning sensation in the end.
This is a really nice sipping rum, don't add coke, would be a shame! I really like the plantation rums!
But close to a sipper, works better with lots of ice or some cola.
I liked the price and decided to try it for some mixes. My wife loves it in cocktails or on its own. For the price Iβll pick it up again.
Edit: the more I taste it, the better it gets π
This young rum is pretty subtle in nose and palate. Hints of vanilla in the nose.
Not very aromatic on the tongue, but smooth and very pleasant for this age. I had older rums with less taste.
Rather thin. I miss some character and volume of more aged rums.
Good Rum at a very good price
I think I paid 19.99 for this and
still only use as a sipper
Solid barbados rum. Very serviceable sipping rum, and a strong mixer (good corn -n oil). Like most plantation rums (standard line) its an excellent value.
A nice smooth rum with a very nice vanilla taste. Perfect for beginners.

This being Plantation workhorse, it is quite representative of the house style.
Tropical aromas on the nose: banana, mango, coconut and some light baking spices.
Medium body, the mouth as a bit more texture than most golden rums = probably the result of the classic bajan wayof mixing copper pot and column stills distillates.
Finish is a bit short but with some delicious orange marmalade notes.
In my local this is pretty much the same price as El Dorado 12 and Appleton Estate Extra/ 12yo, all three of them being excellent choices, I feel the Plantation is the most versatile one. Could easily be sipped straight or on the rocks, but lots of tropical flavours that carry on in a premium cocktail and not to much wood.
This Holiday season I went through a bottle making some buttered rum and the result was fantastic.
