Because I use white rum only to mix I wont give it a higher score than 8. But best white rum I have had. And good value for money,.
I assumed this would be a typical neutral/flavorless white rum.. something to use as a base for other flavors.
I will update with more details once i can taste it again tonight.
I picked it up because it was a great price, and it turned out to be a great rum!
This could be a sipper for sure, i did a take on the dark and stormy with it and it was amazing. Super impressed.. will buy this again.
A white rum that has been blended with dark rum.
It has the aroma of a dark rum with vanilla, banana, and cloves coming through.
On its own it's still a decent rum with sweet notes of tropic fruits and a bit grassy, and a strong finish. But it really shines when you add it to cocktails, in particular daquiries where the aroma cna shine through!
Many tiki cocktails call for white rum, and this one does the trick.
This is the best rum intended for mixing I've tasted so far. It has very distinctive but pleasant taste. It enriches every cocktail with unmatched aroma and taste. It is not intended for sipping. I rated this rum according to its purpose of being a mixer.
i dont exactly know whats going on here but this stuff is the best white rum i've ever had. tastes great pure as well as a mixer. great stuff with a great price
It took a few sips to really get into it. I was skeptical at first as it felt sharp and fairly simple, but once it settled it was a mature rum that, as other have pointed out, have more in common with a gold rum or similar. All in all a nice lighter rum in line with other Plantation rums.
I was pleasantly surprised by this rum. It's pretty versatile and has a bit (not a lot) of funk, presumably from the Jamaican components. On the nose and palate, I get vanilla, a touch of banana, some mango, and a touch of spice. It's bottled at a slightly higher than minimum proof, but there's no burn whatsoever.
It’s mainly a nose of strong alcohol.
"Initially it sips quite well and is reasonably smooth but it is has a very strong taste when swallowed."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Can I say that in a review? I don't care - I'm saying it. How on earth this is a $20 rum I'll never understand.
Don't be fooled by the color. This is actually an aged gold rum that has been filtered. While this does remove some of the flavor and puts it more in line with a silver rum, it's the best "silver" rum you've ever had in your life, hands-down. It's got oak, and spice, and tobacco and vanilla; it's all just a bit more muted than you're used to in a blended aged rum (which is what this actually is). In a pinch it's good enough to drink straight, and it absolutely sings when you use it wherever you'd normally use a silver rum. Try it in a daquiri and then start calling your friends to see who wants to take all your other half-used bottles of silver rums off your hands.
