I'm not a huge fan of most lighter colored rums as they tend to have little to no aging and are often dry with a burning sensation but that is definitely not true of ALL light rums and this is a damn good one! It smells good, tastes good and is very smooth! It has a serious coconut flavor to it (although it is not a flavored rum.) It's an all around pretty fantastic bottle for the price. They've been having some distribution issues lately, so if you see it, grab yourself one while you can. You won't be disappointed! As a person who is often critical of clear rums, I can safely say that I wasn't!
A cocktail do it all due to its blend of rums from 3 countries..can even fill in for the Jamaican funk if needed.
Great White rum. Has a lot of flavour, and a Nice sweet taste to it.
Ive been a fan of Plantation blends so when I saw this variety which was inexpensive, I thought it would be their low-end offering meant as a mixer. It may be their low-end offering but it is incredibly smooth and flavourful. This blend is a designer blend and plantation knows what they are doing. The bottle describes the aromas and taste perfectly so just read the bottle to get a sense of the fruit characteristics. I have not been this pleasantly surprised in a long time. It almost deserves a nine, and the price is outstanding. Ill be buying another bottle soon!
My first White Rum rating and review. and what a Rum to be the first to begin with! as the main label states it is indeed Artisanal Rum. even though the nose is not hinting and far from being impressive, on the moment it hits the tongue and flows down further a plethora of depths is being exposed. i am writing this just after sipping El Dorado 12 and Havana Club Anejo Especial. of course i am not comparing these to each other as these are like apples and oranges, however stepping down from a real 12 year old run to a non age state suspected 5 y/o. the next step down to a white rum should be a traumatic experience. i did it on purpose as i wanted to have the memory of richer flavors on my tongue and mind, and indeed the 3 Stars Plantation succeeds to stand this unfair test mostly thanks to it's deepness of flavors. it's rather long finish, not expected from a typical white run.
as i read and learn that this Rum includes aged charcoal filtered rums it can make sense as this one is completely on different level of any white rum i tasted before and most of them were not worth much more than their volume as mixers. this one is definitely a sipper and of quite good quality, delivers a unique and different experience, it is Artisanal without any doubts and surely for me is a great introduction for future purchases from the Plantation brand. as for the price, around 20-23$ for a bottle it is really a great value for money. i would still prefer to keep it for occasional sipping and would not waste it as a mixer as many would do only due to the Rum colour issue.
Best White Rum i tasted so Far. Decided to Rank white rums based on a White run only scale, as this is a clearly Artisanal quality Rum it deserves much higher rating than the 7 i would give it compared to much more matured rums. so here is the reason for my high score of 9. and it deserves every bottle.
3.8.22 - Raising my rating to 10/10 this is the best white Rum by far compared even to aged rums.
1.10.22 - Another Bottle re-confirming that Plantation "3 Stars" is Louis XIV in beggars clothes
10/10 again.
Because I use white rum only to mix I wont give it a higher score than 8. But best white rum I have had. And good value for money,.
I assumed this would be a typical neutral/flavorless white rum.. something to use as a base for other flavors.
I will update with more details once i can taste it again tonight.
I picked it up because it was a great price, and it turned out to be a great rum!
This could be a sipper for sure, i did a take on the dark and stormy with it and it was amazing. Super impressed.. will buy this again.
A white rum that has been blended with dark rum.
It has the aroma of a dark rum with vanilla, banana, and cloves coming through.
On its own it's still a decent rum with sweet notes of tropic fruits and a bit grassy, and a strong finish. But it really shines when you add it to cocktails, in particular daquiries where the aroma cna shine through!
It’s mainly a nose of strong alcohol.
"Initially it sips quite well and is reasonably smooth but it is has a very strong taste when swallowed."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Can I say that in a review? I don't care - I'm saying it. How on earth this is a $20 rum I'll never understand.
Don't be fooled by the color. This is actually an aged gold rum that has been filtered. While this does remove some of the flavor and puts it more in line with a silver rum, it's the best "silver" rum you've ever had in your life, hands-down. It's got oak, and spice, and tobacco and vanilla; it's all just a bit more muted than you're used to in a blended aged rum (which is what this actually is). In a pinch it's good enough to drink straight, and it absolutely sings when you use it wherever you'd normally use a silver rum. Try it in a daquiri and then start calling your friends to see who wants to take all your other half-used bottles of silver rums off your hands.
