I'm aware that this isn't technically a white rum, but it has wonderful elements of Jamaican rum with a slight funk and a hint of caramel. There's definitely a bit of sweetness here, but it works in cocktails quite well.

First bottle of white rum that I drank almost entirely neat, made a couple of cocktails with ginger beer lime and ice and that was it. Worked nicely both ways but I wanted to experience it raw.
As per the nose and palate I got vanilla, banana and pear. The nose actually felt stronger that it was on the palate, which was really smooth for a white rum. Very well executed blend and I will def go back to it anytime soon.
Really nice finish. Great blend of 3 rums. Deep flavour. Lovely bottle.
For the price, you will a hard time finding anything to match this for a mixer in a drink calling for lightly aged blended rum.
This is my go to for when my tiki cocktail calls for a white rum
Not 9n to have on its own , defiantly a cocktail rum . Prefer the jamivan mixeing rums but still good stuff
Unexpectedly flavorful and nuanced for a light rum. And a budget-priced one at that! A bit fruity, a bit funky, and roundly sweet, with none of the typically grassy elements Iβve found in other lighter varieties. Great in cocktails like Painkillers, that fully leverage tropical fruit and citrus. However, I found it too sweet and dominating in my typical Daiquiri and Mojito recipes, where I expect cleaner and brighter flavors. Perhaps if I tweak the recipes... Still, so shockingly smooth you could sip it on its own.
Sorry, I cannot rate a white rum higher than 7. This β7β is the equivalent of a 10 for white rum. This is actually enjoyable straight on ice. Full stop. Unbelievable. Coconut notes. Smooth with balance. This crushes any other white rum out there and costs less than $20. It blew Foursquare Probitas and Barcardi away. No contest and cost less. This white rum will make your cocktails SOAR. Well done Plantation!
Itβs mainly a nose of strong alcohol.
"Initially it sips quite well and is reasonably smooth but it is has a very strong taste when swallowed."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Being a Plantation aficionado, I had to taste this. Unfortunately for us in Quebec, apart from the winters, it means getting the 3 stars through an elaborate mix of private import agency and state controlled process.
Luckily I am quite stubborn and last summer I ended ordering two cases of the stuff and sharing it with my friends. It was indeed a hit and a unanimous winner. So much so that a month latter I order two additional cases.
Everyone agreed it could easily be sipped on the rocks, with some nice tropical aromas of bananas and mango. I personally made the best cuban classics (Mojitos and Daiquiris) with it.
I think the best result was one my friend having the brilliant idea of mixing this in a freshly opened coconut (the fresh ones cut and wrapped, not the old fibrous ones) with some ice.
I'm sure most people reading this know about the elaborate process to create this white rum. To be honest, the only white rum approaching this quality is the Diplomatico Blanco Reserva, and it's practically twice the price.
Let's just say Plantation nailed it again.
