Thanks so much for submitting a report. It has been emailed to the Rum Captain and will be actioned shortly.
I use this rum for Cuba libre, daiquiris, and mojitos. I reserve ones for the absolute best in its category, So I am only comparing it to other white rums, not dark ones that you would sip in straight up. So far this is the best white rum I have had (If I find a noticeably better one I will knock this one down to a 9). I haven't tried tons of premiums whites but can safely say this is my favorite.
Price is weighed lightly in my rating. I paid $25 for a 1 liter bottle
Really smooth, non-agressive. I'am a pirate love dark, anejo, hardcore rums, but this one blow me up! It's a master for any cola drinks with lemon, orange, banana. He is not white! He is a barely desert-color. This is good friend for any parties with friends who don't know what a huge kingdom is good rum. Good for everyday drinks. Regards Pirate!
if the price does not wow you the flavor will! This is a great mixing white rum. I use this and Cana Brava as my go to white rums.
Jako nečekal jsem to, o 100% lepší než například Havana club. Fakt překvapil, jemný, nasládlý
This is actually a dark rum, but cold filtered to compete in the segment of white rums.
The make up of the bottle is amazing and emphasises it's origin. Regarding the taste:
Actually, if you compare this rum with other white rums, you could sip this rum, sounds crazy but it isn't. The rum is pretty smooth with some lights of sweetness.
Comes out great generally in cocktails.
Without a doubt the best clear rum I ever tasted. This blend is great on it's own and perfect for cocktails. Must have for every rum and cocktail fanatic. Of its kind it is really in a class of its own. I enjoyed its floral pallet and vanilla aftertaste.
Really good to mix with. My favorite is to mix this with dark rum, passionfruit syrup and lime juice in all equel parts
Being a Plantation aficionado, I had to taste this. Unfortunately for us in Quebec, apart from the winters, it means getting the 3 stars through an elaborate mix of private import agency and state controlled process.
Luckily I am quite stubborn and last summer I ended ordering two cases of the stuff and sharing it with my friends. It was indeed a hit and a unanimous winner. So much so that a month latter I order two additional cases.
Everyone agreed it could easily be sipped on the rocks, with some nice tropical aromas of bananas and mango. I personally made the best cuban classics (Mojitos and Daiquiris) with it.
I think the best result was one my friend having the brilliant idea of mixing this in a freshly opened coconut (the fresh ones cut and wrapped, not the old fibrous ones) with some ice.
I'm sure most people reading this know about the elaborate process to create this white rum. To be honest, the only white rum approaching this quality is the Diplomatico Blanco Reserva, and it's practically twice the price.
Let's just say Plantation nailed it again.
I develop my profession in an area where making cocktails (except the mojito) is a rarity seen by most people with distrust. In addition, the rum-based combinations are monopolized by molasses rums of Dominican origin. I must also take into account the final price of the cocktail since the average income of my fellow citizens is clearly not among the highest in my country. All this forces me to be very careful in the selection of cocktails and rums. When I make a cocktail based on Plantation 3 stars I feel confident and my clients certainly notice that I am offering them the best of me and my bar.
I've been attempting to support independent spirits producers in my spirits purchases, attempting to avoid buying brands owned by any of the major liquor conglomerates. This isn't easy to do, by any means. I was happy when I learned that Cognac Ferrand, the respected cognac producer (and, maker of Citadelle gin) produced the excellent Plantation line of rums.
Plantation three-star rum is a white rum blend of rums from Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad, following Ferrand's tradition of aging the rums on their islands of origin, and then sending the rum to France for additional aging at Chateau de Bonbonnet. This rum is bottled at 82.4 proof. This rum evinces a deliciously fragrant nose with hints of vanilla and spice. The taste is smooth, with the rum's molasses origins clearly coming through on the palate. Plantation three-star is superb in cocktails, smooth enough to be a great mixer, but, with an assertiveness and depth of flavor that takes it beyond standard white rum offerings (e.g., Bacardi).
If you read the original press release for the rum's introduction back in 2012, Cognac Ferrand proprietor Alexandre Gabriel basically concedes that the white rum category is a crowded space dominated by huge corporations, so, this offering didn't make sense for a tiny house such as his, from a purely fiscal standpoint. But, because he believed that he and his team could produce a superior product, he chose to do it. That's the kind of entrepreneurial spirit that anyone can drink to, and, also, gumption and artistic daring that I'm happy to support.
At a price of roughly $18.99 per bottle, Plantation three-star is a great rum and a great value, as well.
Fantastic price (19.99 in my region), Nice 1L bottle size. fruity and makes a great mixer. love getting a couple bottles of these for mixing.
Wow, i never expected a white rum to be this good. This is going to be my favorite summer rum! I love the hints of banana and the overall tropical flavour
This is an amazing product! one of the best white rums in the market right now... it's just beautiful for cocktails...The best daiquiri you can make!
I really do taste the melding of "The Three Stars" - the fruity banana, the spiciness, the nuttiness, the touch of citrus... Its rather delicate, as most aged whites can be, but showcases its power and finesse quite well in daiquiris or even neat (give it some time to breath, and you will be rewarded).
I like it a lot. Expertly blended to make something unique, and delicious.
Plantation 3-star has just rocketed to the top of my white rum for cocktails list. This is a serious rum that stands up to the most robust of tiki ingredients. The price point makes it an easy choice for a high quality, big flavor white.
Plantation 3 Stars is a very good and sweet blend of three types of white rum! You can find aromas of plants in this sweet tasting rum.
I drink it as Ti-Punch and it's just amazing.
This has so much more flavour than other white rums. Very smooth, but still has a nice bite. And at the price point, impossible to beat. Makes excellent Daiquiris.
Since discovering this rum i'm addicted. It isn't you traditional white rum. Its actually dark but filtered. Never drink bacardi, havana club crap again. This is your substitute.
An excellent choice in a moderately priced rum. Smooth and very good straight up, superior in any kind of rum-based cocktail. If you haven't tried it yet, find some now!
I can get this locally for $20 a ltr. and always have a bottle on hand. When people ask me what's a good light rum this is my recommendation.
I am currently drinking this as a Lime and Honey Daiquiri (try it if you never have!) and it is fantastic! It puts most other white rums to shame. You almost want to sip rather than mix.
Fantastic taste. Delicious. Smooth. Light in color but don’t let that fool you. This is no Bacardi silver. Robust flavor. Oftd but less flammable. My new favorite.
This is my go to White Rum, it's perfect for any mixed drink and makes the best daiquiri.
So the story began woth me finding this precious for 17.99 for 1 liter. I was planning on another rum but price was made it clear and easy...
It is not a classic white rum. To be honest it is not even crystal clear.. it is blurry because of distilation process and it makes it taste like high $$$$ sipping rum.
Also it is great for a mixer. Vanilla nuts and pineapple i was able to pick up from my experiences..
Great, lets make it clear amazing rum...
