Pampero Aniversario was first crafted in 1963 to commemorate the Pampero company’s 25th anniversary. The rum is a blend of rums ranging in maturity from four to six years and aged in whisky and bourbon barrels.
The Pampero distillery was founded by Alejandro Hernández of Venezuela in 1938. The brand is now a division of the world’s largest liquor holding company, Diageo.

I’m pretty sure it has added color and sugar, but I keep buying it!
I just like the taste and in the end perhaps that is all that matters

I got it as a present and I have to say it is a good I looked at it a bit a weird in its unique "sack". The bottle is nothing special as well, little, roundy.
But when you taste it you see this is some special stuff. The taste is not too strong, not too alcoholic and not sweet, BUT... harmonic. The strong vanilla, the small oaky aftertaste just so perfectly harmonized you must accept the people who made this have thought it through.
So, give it a try, wont regret it, this is really a good stuff.

It's really great one for El Dorado fans. Will definitely buy again.
Dark chocolate smooth taste with coffee notes. Quite long aftertaste.
As stated in the title, Pampero Aniversario is the rum that started me on my appreciation of good sipping rums some 30+ years ago. Up until that point, the taste of the spirits I had tried never lived up to the wonderful, rich smell that a lot of rums dangled in front of you but didn't deliver on when hitting the palate. All that changed with my first bottle of this one: vanilla, wood, and leather with a very slight undercurrent of buttery varnish. It was like a veil had been lifted off of my taste buds. Are there better rums to be had? Absolutely. Are there also worse ones? Most definitely. And I've had many of both camps. Probably should be a "7" on the ratings scale but, emotionally speaking, this one has a special place in my heart. You could do a lot worse for an introduction to sipping rums.

Between the modest price point and the gimmicky leather bag, I reconsidered three times before purchasing.
What a wonderful surprise. Subtle spice and wonderful sweet molasses, caramel and brown sugar on the nose and palate. All with a clean finish.
Excellent sipper at this price point.
Sometimes those guys and girls in marketing try a little too hard...

Dark bold rum, with balance of sweetness and bitter aspects ø, with a hint of funk
This was really nice sipper, goes well with a cigar, but more spicy than sweet - I personally enjoy a lick more sweetness in my rum, but this one is a very good choice!

The smell never got better no matter how long it sat straight astringent nose. The first few sips were decent but slightly harsh it was not until I was a quarter thru the bottle it started tasting less harsh. This goes down easy in the throat but a bit dry. I could not detect much flavor or sweetness in it to be honest the dryness masked the flavors for me a bit of water did not help. I mixed it with some coke and that seemed to help out in terms of flavor. I ended up drinking the better part of the bottle in a sitting. I rate this highly because it gave me no ill feelings or hangover at all. With this bottle I consumed 2 cigars, a Triple whopper with cheese, bacon, ketchup, mustard, mayo, A double cheese burger no pickles, French fries, and 3 bbq chicken strips. Then I passed out and awoke early the next morning feeling great. Because of the no hangover effects I upgraded this from 7 to an 8.
