Pampero Aniversario was first crafted in 1963 to commemorate the Pampero company’s 25th anniversary. The rum is a blend of rums ranging in maturity from four to six years and aged in whisky and bourbon barrels.
The Pampero distillery was founded by Alejandro Hernández of Venezuela in 1938. The brand is now a division of the world’s largest liquor holding company, Diageo.

Sweet and smooth, a little bit of caramel and oak. Very aromatic. It looks great in a squat bottle and a leather pouch.
Me ha parecido un Ron que se deja beber muy bien. No tan fino como otros rones del país, aunque ese toque alcohólico para mí suma en vez de restar. Un olor maravilloso. Me parece un producto de buena calidad.
Sweet smell of vanilla and oak, beautiful dark amber colour. First taste is great - dark and sweet, then comes a short pause of something bitter, smoky and almost tar-y before the slightly port-like lingering sweet aftertaste. Best 20$ rum I've had.
Purchased in the Canaries for only 18euros, not too sweet, good zipping rum and very nice leather pouche that comes with it. It comes close to the Diplomatico reserca ex but you pay a lot less...
One of the original fancy rums before rum became fancy in Venezuela, well balanced flavor great in a cuba libre and still great to sip, nice presentation with the leather pouch.
It's fine to sip it neat, but it really opens up and shines on the rocks. Nice leather pouch makes for a nice gift. One of the best rums I had, would definitely buy again.
Δαμάσκηνο, καμένη καραμέλα και σοκολάτα. Ένα πολύ νόστιμο ρούμι με ήπια γλυκύτητα και υπέροχο χρώμα που, όμως, δεν έχει μεγάλη επίγευση.
Taste seams like a little bit from cognac. ++++++++
One of the first rums I enjoyed. It's not to sweet and tastes slightly as tobacco in a good way. Boring in the length and not something I'm gonna buy again, but it's great for beginners
Mooi rum. Heeft eerst een lekkere rokerige smaak met tonen van caramel en vanille. Heeft een lekkere afdronk.
Quite light and buttery.
"It’s a pleasant nose which suggests good ageing and there is a light oak to the nose which is well balanced."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

A good Anejo

This is an Anejo that delivers on its label. But, it is different in a good/interesting way.
The nose and finish are the same - oak, tobacco, and coffee. There are hints of vanilla and camel but they get washed out on the pallet by a strong leathery note that compliments the stronger flavor of the barrel. There's not much of a bite on the finish, its a smoother Anjeo despite its relatively young age.
This is a "sugar/camel added rum" but doesn't deliver sweetness, floral or fruit notes. It's a one dimensional rum, but its the absence of sugar, floral, and fruit notes and instead a strong coffee note I found to be pleasantly different and unique
Even with sugar added I don't think this deserves a 7 because its a very good quality Anjeo - a rare commodity.
The packaging and bottling is a home run. The stout bottle is sharp looking and sophisticated and the leather bag is an awesome touch.
Its a good sipper but also went very well with cola. I can also see it being used to balance out a fruit mixer.
For $30 a bottle (New York price) I'd say its worth experiencing.
