This was my hardest rating so far. It is difficult to go beyond the impressions I had with previous Plantation experiences. I would like to ask to anyone who rated this less then 7 to do a blind taste with this one and tell me what is the rating of this one. It can't be less than 7. First the nose: it is fruity, funky, but it lacks that typical solvent you can find in most Jamaicans. That for me is a pro. You can smell the cognac finish, but that's not a problem too. In the mouth in the first sip it does not kick you like a mule, and that was disappointing at first, but then it opened its variety of flavors: bananas, raisins, pineapple, lot of funk. The hogo is there, it is not covering all other sensations, it is just there, chilling. That would be an 8, if it wasn't for the finish. Long. Super long. Hell I've already washed my teeth and I can still feel it. It is very dry, very Jamaican, may be difficult to accept that the French did a better Jamaican rum than some Jamaican ones. But if you can go beyond that prejudice, you will find a very good rum wanting for you.

Jamaica and France. Just the right amount of funk. Just the right amount of cognac. Another winner from Plantation. Was a little sweeter than I expected it would be but it is dry. Tried neat and was going back and forth a little on a 7 or 8 rating then put on ice and that pushed it up to an 8. Great price point also as most Plantation rums seem to be. Absolutely worth a try.

I’m a big fan of most Plantation rums, tried this one on a whim not knowing what to expect and hated it on the nose, it smelled smoky and tasted quite dry for a rum but after using it for a while it really got to me, also perfect for tiki drinks that ask for dark jamaïcain rum

Non rientra di sicuro tra i miei rum preferiti. Non mi ha entusiasmato.

Tasted at Laka Lono on 10/3/18. Cheese aroma. Some sourness to the palate. Candy sweetness to the taste. This is delicious.

A really nice and unique Jamaican blend. It brings the funk but far from being the biggest funk fish in the pond.

Dejlig Jamaica rum fra plantation, er ikke den bedste sipper, men er god til cocktails

This rum is a little harsh and has an aroma of overripe bananas and subtle funk. It works well with tropical juices or in classic summer cocktails.

The nose is typical overripe banana and pineapple, the taste is starts sweet, banana, pineapples, and other tropical fruits, no notion of barrel of anything else. The aftertaste goes to sour notes - unmistakeable sign of not having any sugar added, quite against the tradition of Plantation lacing almost every formula they produce with at least 16gpl. The Jamaica funkiness is on the middle level, could be more, could be less. Overall, it is a decent, entry-level Jamaica rum, can be sipped or mixed, but there are better options for the same price, such as Appleton 8, Chairmans Reserve.

I’m still relatively new to the style and struggle to pick out specific flavors in the Jamaican rums. This one is not offensive neat, and cuts through a mixer if you use it that way. Really no alcohol burn.
