Fantastic nose and taste is in perfect balance with the high alcohol %

Fan of the brand...the higher proof, 59%, made me even more interested to purchase. I’m just not accustomed to higher proof rums. Definite initial burn, but warm tones of honey & butterscotch; nice finish leaving a wonderful aftertaste across the palette. Definitely will continue to be a fan of Foursquare.

Puha der er power på her. Fin rom, lidt for tør til min smag men godt gang på alkoholen som gør den spændende

Ratings are relatively high for it, and descriptions are well within my palate, so I expected to like it a lot better than I did. Foursquare has a reputation for making high quality sipping rums, and it's a well-deserved reputation. But even the best distilleries can't be perfect.

I find it oddly syrupy. Premise (the first Foursquare rum I reviewed) was... thinner?... and I found it easier to drink because of that. I'm betting that's because of the additional aging in sherry casks, which 2005 did not benefit from.

You can definitely taste the bourbon-barrel aging, because it has that characteristic burn. And luckily, that burn disappears pretty quickly. But there's something in there that's just... a little too much.

I don't regret the purchase. Far from it... I'm glad to own it. It will be sipped until the bottle is empty. I don't hate it. I just don't like it as much as I thought I would.

Her er en rom på 59% hvilket man mærker. Men med en fantastisk fylde

Most see 2005 > 2004 but not me. They're pretty close but I'd give the 2004 the nod. The 2005 is still better than most rums on the market.

This 2005 is very similar to the 2004 that was also aged in bourbon casks and the nose is almost impossible to tell apart since I still have a bottle of the 2004 in my collection. The first sip is a doozy because of being 59% ABV but after the initial shock you are left with a very complex rum with hints of dried fruit and vanilla coming through with the oak but the natural sweetness balances everything out. I think this rum benefits for giving it a few minutes to breathe in the glass if you're not too anxious to sip it. Another solid rum from Foursquare!

I have to disagree and agree with joola69...indeed this rum is a bit whisky like. So whiskylovers wil love it. Nose is great woody. Taste lasts for ages and is a bit dry (Also because of cask strenght). I rate this rum quite high but think it deserves it.

Enjoyed two glasses of Foursquare 2005 Barbados rum with my friend during a 5,000 mile road trip across 18 States. Bottle and label design looks nice and old school. Golden amber color. Very strong oak and wood from the Bourbon barrel aging straight to your nose and palate. Strong burn at the end. Whisky lovers can add 2 points to the score.
