Neptune Gold 3-Year

A very good solid Bajan rum distilled by Foursquare I believe.

Sugar guys would not appreciate but it is very good rum. You can feel typical sweet barbados aroma full of oak and tropical fruit. Taste is again very oaky together with vanilla, caramel and fruit.

Distilled in the Foursquare Distillery, this lightly spiced Barbados rum is great value. Definitely a sipper as the delicate flavours are drowned when adding anything containing sugar.

A very light almost crisp rum from Foursquare. For 3 yr old it’s very good, clean, crisp, fruity with a hint of flowers.
You would absolutely drown this out if mixed with coke, or I believe any mixer.
Because it’s so “light” It has to be neat or over ice.

Frankly, this is very sippable and very smooth, there are however other rums with a bit more going on.

Can't go wrong with Foursquare though.

Sampled this rum at Cardiff Rum Festival.

A blend of column and pot still rum from Barbados. Aged in the Caribbean, in American oak ex bourbon casks. Was told it has won various awards although I hadn't come across it before it must have launched recently.

Spice, oak and sherry. Reasonably priced too.

The blend of 3, 5 and 8 years has a youngish nose which starts with a waft of alcohol odeur, then comes refreshing Bajan nose of tropical (mainly citrus) fruits, the taste starts with sweet apricot jam (but without sugar added), then come citrus fruits, slight touch of white oak, then it turns into lasting, spicy, finish of sweet apricots and sour grapefruit. The overall feel is smooth, likeable, sippable rum, but I like Doorly's 5y more, which is somewhat cheaper (15-30%, depends where you buy the Neptune as its price varies quite a lot). Did not try to mix it, it disappeared too fast.

In der Nase fruchtig leicht und luftig locker. Überreife Bananen und frisch geschnittenes Zuckerrohr kreieren ein harmonischen Einstieg. Karamellisiertes Holz und weisse Früchte wie Karambole, Birnen und Trauben auf einem leicht angesengtem Toast serviert.
Am Gaumen etwas flach und schwach und doch lieblich, hart und ehrlich. Tropische Früchte, Vanille, Karamell mit etwas Holz und Harz vermengt.
Im Abgang etwas flambierte Früchte und dann taucht noch Schokolade zum Abschied auf.
Ein durchaus süffiger Rum, an einem lauen Sommerabend sicherlich eine gute Wahl.

Straw yellow in the glass.
In the nose fruity light and airily loose. Overripe bananas and freshly cut sugar cane create a harmonious entry. Caramelized wood and white fruits like carambola, pears and grapes served on a slightly scorched toast.
On the palate a bit flat and weak, yet sweet, hard and honest. Tropical fruits, vanilla, caramel mixed with some wood and resin.
In the finish some flambéed fruit and then chocolate appears as a farewell.
A quite palatable rum, certainly a good choice on a warm summer evening.
Without sugar, for Barbadians, purists and connoisseurs. 7+

Not a bad drink, although considering how many awards it has claimed I was a bit underwhelmed. Quite drinkable but nothing to shout about

Neptune Rum is perfect for enjoying over ice or with your favourite mixer. The name also also definitely a reference to the Roman god of freshwater and the sea, not the eighth planet in our solar system or 1990s/2000s hip-hop production duo.
