A rare “ocean aged” rum made by Ironworks Distillery. Definitely worth trying. I enjoy it on ice.

Rum Boat Rum is produced by the Ironworks Distillery in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada and consists of a blend of four rums aged between 2 and 5 years. The website describes the rum as a lively spirit, tasting of warm fig and vanilla and the spiciness of oak, with great depth and complexity of flavours and a completely natural medium amber colour.

Based on my sampling, this is a very nice light coloured rum worth purchasing. I am familiar with Ironworks “Five year Rum” and this Rum Boat Rum is, in my opinion, is better. This limited quantity 500 ml bottle sells for $38.65 CDN.

This is definitely worth a 7.5 rating in my book but not an 8.

Well done!

This is an easy sipping rum. It's almost too drinkable. I get a lot of fresh pineapple, a bit of vanilla, and a touch of salinity. If I'm ever in Lunenburg again, I'll grab another bottle or two. Ironworks is very transparent. This rum has no additives, and they tell you right at the distillery which rums have added sweeteners and which don't. This is a company worth supporting.
