Foursquare 2008 Premise 10-Year

Completed taste testing at the FOUR square distillery in Barbados. Definitely enjoyed Premise above all other offerings. Full body, smooth. Fine finish.

If you are a newbie who doesn't have much experience with more premium rums, you might skip Premise for other Foursquare ECS releases. This might be a huge mistake. Firstly, 46% is one of the lowest ABV's of all the ECS releases and if you are used to drinking 40% rums, anything higher might be too much before you adapt to cask-strength rums. What is even more important is, that this is a simply amazing rum. I get a lot of honey in both aroma and flavor, followed by a very good balance of dry oak and sweet caramel and vanilla. Overall experience is simply amazing and for around 45 EUR that it is sold for here in Slovakia, it's also probably the best value for the money in this price category.

You can't ask for more in a bottle, unless it's another bottle of Foursquare. Mellow, well rounded, refined, rewarding.

Really good Rum. Not that sweet even tho the Sherry cask is present. But this an entry Level Foursquare. Get it while you can.

This is a mans rum, very little sweet, hints of light and dark fruits. Has similarities to whiskey and tastes best neat.

overall its a good rum. But i did not apreciated it until 4th tasting.
in the nose quite alcoholic. Taste with burnt nuts, almonds and cinnamon quite spicy on the tongue. Long dry aftertaste.
After more tastings there are hints of chocolate also and more complexity than i previosly thought.

Looking good. Have not opened my bottle yet, but tasted it a few months ago in the Rum Club.

Starts on the nose with a smooth fruity aroma with just a hint of spice. The warmth on the tongue is pleasant with the spice coming out from underneath the fruit. This is a wonderful rum for the money to sip for any occasion.

I have been sampling every Foursquare I can ge ahold of this month. Premise is another winner, but compared to Empery and 2005 it fall a bit short. More alcohol scent on the nose, initial subtle Island flavors and sweetness on first touch of tongue. Did not need a drop or two of water. Great lingering flavor. Han I not tried others first might have gave it a 9. Might be due to slightly lower alcohol strength. A very good rum. .
