Smells a bit acetone but is most pleasant flavour than that. Hints of pineapple. Pretty good for the price.

In the glass, it’s a sincerely a dark Rum. It looks the part that a Pirate would love. Like a lightly watered down coffee. On the nose I get pineapple, orange and chocolate with a hint of that molasses source. On the lips, that first sip, the Rum is sweet and rich. No big burn straight away.

In the mouth, rich brown sugar flavours emerge quickly, followed by bitter orange and apricot, it was oddly sweet. Those are the flavours persisted over several sips, not changing to much. In the throat it’s slightly above mild, a small amount of heat develops over time. It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination. The finish is where this Rum looses points. It’s dry and bitter. The rich molasses flavour from the start is lost. Shame really. I think it’s alright but not stunning. There are far better Rums out there for the same low price point.

I rank it a 6 out of 10 because of that lingering bitter finish. Then again, that 6/10 is a sipper, straight up, neat. I generally use it as a float on “Boat Drinks”, Rum and fruit juice concoctions. Just carefully pour it in last right on top of an ice cube to keep the lighter spirit at the very top of the drink. It’s a great topper as an alternate when you can’t find any Black Seal for the same purpose. Enjoy mixed in Coke too. I say, just don’t serve it neat unless you're a Rummy.

I came back and edited my review.

This is a very basic rum. There is nothing outstanding about it, but there is nothing heinous either.

This is not a rum you would want to sip, rather you want to mix this with some Coke.

I most likely will not buy this one again. It was good to try it and expand my palate, but it’s not worth a repeat.

The look of the bottle doesn't do it justice. Low price is also deceiving. Very good rum.

The label and twist cap make this look ghetto. I was so surprised to taste something this nice.

This is a really sweet rum. It’s like drinking boozy molasses- which sounds delicious to me.

It’s really more like a 7, but I’m giving it a +1 bump for a great price. Here in BC it is about as cheap as they come, but it’s better than many of the more expensive rums.

Sampled Old Sam Demerara Rhum which I enjoyed in spite of being sweet and so young. Not really a sipping rhum but nevertheless better than many other young rums I have had.

A good moderate price demerara with a fiery burn afterwards! Nothing complex here, but a deep syrupy molasses flavor! Worth drinking but easy to get sick of quickly. good for making things like rum balls, or cheating on a dark & stormy!

Deep molasses/caramel, oak! bitter on the finish.

A bit hot and certainly one-dimentional but quite pleasant and fills a niche in cocktails very well.

Quite nice, a shade below el dorado 12 but far up from the lemon hart 1804!

I don't know what the others are saying this is great stuff.

First sip was not too bad but seemed to get worse with more tasting. Harsh and acidic....and not hidden by mixing with coke. Cant figure why this rum rates an overall 8. Think i will have to try again when i am in a different mood.
