Its like a hampdon but way less funky and way sweeter. On the nose a bit of funk but not overpowering, on taste immediate sweetness a tad bit artificial tasting hint if caramel, on finish there is a slight burn and a coffee grind taste
Nose is funky Jamaica, but super sweet on the palate. Surprised it is a Fernandina Beach, Florida Rum.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

I found out about this craft distiller in downtown Fernandina Beach Florida just a few days before arriving. Knowing that I would not have time to visit the distillery, I stopped at ABC Fine Wine And Spirits just before crossing the Shaver Bridge onto Amelia Island. They had the complete line, so I tried their Amber Rum.
It soon got opened since I got stuck being sandwiched between two TV addicts on either side of my cheap motel room. What one saves on lodging can be spent on rums! You know the TV addict types, the ones that want to have the TV on all night and God help you if it is one who is addicted to the Lifetime channel!!! Needless to say, that first night caused me to drink a few too many shots to get to sleep. It worked like a charm!
And yes, I finished off that bottle of Amber Rum at an average of one half pint per night and took extensive tasting notes in the process. No ill after effects. No horrible burn. No repulsive tastes. No added sugar. Just rum in it's purest form with flavors of oak and vanilla. It is column distilled from Florida sugar cane molasses, with multiple filterings. It is not complex enough to compete with the best sipping rums, but most of them cheat by adding sugar. This distiller would never do that. So for those who want their rums in their purest forms with no additives such as Mount Gay XO, Santa Teresa 1796, or Don Q Gran Anejo. this rum is for you at only about $25.
