This is my first “La Favorite”, and sorry to say I’m not impressed.
At first the nose is extremely weak, hard to find any aroma at all, not even after warming it up in my hands.
In mouth the same at first, but after a while it becomes quite aromatic and then it’s possible to recognize some vanilla, fruitiness, some sweetness and quite a lot wood.
The afterburn is quite long with the same taste.
As a summary, the initial weakness does that the rating stays at a seven despite it getting better and better afterwards and the price doesn’t match either.

Visited the La Favorite distillery while vacationing in Martinique. Spectacular self guided distillery tour accompanied with a tasting bar. Millésime 2009 Sélection de Fûts was EUR 75 per bottle at the distillery. Very nice old school bottle and label design. Deep mahogany color. Prunes, sherry and oak to your nose and palate. A bit of burn at the end. Much more dryer than the spectacular La Flibuste.

I found the tail a lot more pleasing than the actual taste of this rum. The tail stayed with you for a minute and was a little like a dry cherry lambic that was dipped in molasses and then aged in cognac.
