A unique idea from plantation here. Ultimately it's not mind-blowing, tastes like Plantation 5 year that spent some time in a whisky barrel, who could have guessed?, but if you're interested in trying a scotchy rum this is probably one of the best you can go for.
Nothing wrong about it but also nothing spectacular. There are better bottles in this price range. It's good for what it is.
40.6% ABV. Cask 3, bottle 131 (Smuggler's Cove ed.). N: Cane sugar and peaty smoke. P: Sweet with a smokey finish. Vanilla. F: The sweetness lingers.
Do you like sweet rums? Do you also like peaty Scotch whiskies? Then you just might like this rum. "Interesting" is just about the only positive thing I can say about it. This is a fun experiment from Plantation. However, the intense sweetness is constantly at odds with the smokiness, and to me it's really not delicious.
In the end, this rum lacks a reason to exist. Stick with literally any other offering from Plantation or Barbados.
