Flawed with a glimmer of hope
Interesting Rhum for sure. Initially it’s funky and a bit rough, but it quickly mellows out showcasing its Guadeloupe flavors of grass and honey, with a spicy cinnamon finish. Hangs on a bit in the mouth. I like it. Not quite as refined as a quality Bielle, but still a nice offering. Better on the backside than the frontside.
What a big disappointment the Berry Bros & Rudd Guadalupe 12y 1998 was. The color is pretty nice golden dark. Smell test reveals weird rubber smell and a very strong alcohol smell with a 46% printed on the bottle. Taste test is the most disappointing of them all. It tastes like a cheap cognac dipped in rubber and then immediately bottled.
