Myers's Original Dark rum

Myers's Original Dark

Jamaica | Dark | 40% ABV

Myerโ€™s Original Dark Rum is a blend of up to nine different rums of various ages, all of which are distilled using Jamaica's typical production method: pot-stills. The Original Dark Rum is slightly unique in Jamaica however, because some of the molasses used earlier in the process is added back in after distillation.

Myers rum has been produced since 1879 and named after its founder, Fred Myers.

This a regular cabinet option since it's found nearly everywhere. Myers' is very heavy on the molasses taste, even compared to other Jamaican dark rums like Appleton Estates. That may be an asset or an issue, depending on your preference and the kind of drink you're mixing.

I love this rum for mixed drinks. The dark sweet and sugary taste makes it a great rum for the perfect piรฑa colada.

My overall favorite for mixed drinks.

Not great for sipping. Unless you have had more than a few of the good one and you run out of other options. Way too sweet.

Famous for being THE Plunter's Punch ingredient but also for mediocre MaiTais it does its job there but that's about it. Not really tasty as a sipper but a cheap alternative to the real good dark ones like a Wood's or a Lemon Hart. I don't use it at home but have been given worse in bars so it's ok...

This is the easiest rum that I can find on the small island that I live so, we call it BTN rum (better than nothing..). Usually we make daiquiri or rum and coke from it so we don't bother too much about the real taste

One of the first rums that got me hooked. Haven't had any in years and can't wait to have another bottle. I bought some for the bar where I work recently and could only have a smell -toffee and banana, caramel.
For the same price as the already selling Capn M it won't be long until it kicks the latter off the shelves.

Saying that, the bottle does actually look like a large bottle of cough syrup, but a minor flaw in a superior tasting "cheap" rum. I'd have this before Mount Gay Eclipse or the Havanas.

Personally I don't like it that much and I can't quite put my finger on why it's not a bad rum. It's all most overy sweet and not in a good way. This one I have a hard time reviewing because I'm not a big fan of it but I keep drinking it.

If you make a party and want a cheap rum to mix, go ahead, but he is not much useful for anything else.
Barely drinkable by itself.

Rauchig, schmeckt nach Whisky. Smoky, tastes like Whisky... I like it

It reminded me of some bad type of cough medicine.

A standard house pouring rum, definitely needs a mixer.
